Job Description and Responsibilities
Lead at least twice each week in either The Element, FX, The 5one or Epic 56 ministries.
Work closely under Brendan to unify the musical worship culture of Highlands Church.
*Meet with Brendan at least once a week for evaluation of student worship progress and needs.
*Serve and learn by playing under Brendan in the worship team for the main service.
Create a philosophy of worship for the students of Highlands Church.
*Create and help achieve worship goals for each ministry.
*Create specific philosophies of worship for each student ministry that unify the ministries build upon each other.
- Epic 56 (5-6th grade ministry)- creating a fun atmosphere where students can worship through love and adoration of God and being part of the family of God.
The 5one (Jr High) - a fun worship atmosphere but one where students can also begin to acknowledge their need for a savior and worship out of awe.
FX (high school) - students can begin to really comprehend the spiritual nature of worship and conscious interaction with the Holy Spirit.
The Element (College) - the culmination of each stepping-stone and a full comprehension of what it means to worship in Spirit and in truth.
The goal being that at each stage, is that students are able to take something specific out of time spent in musical worship that is geared to their individual spiritual and emotional level.)
Oversee the training and staffing of each ministry’s band and create a fun atmosphere for students to serve in.
*Create a culture that draws musicians to the student ministries of Highlands Church.
*Hold student band auditions for each ministry to provide opportunities for student serving.
*Create a tradition of training new worship leaders within the student ministries to both serve in all of the ministries of Highlands and to go out in the future to lead at other churches.
*Meet with and provide training for future worship leaders for each student ministry
*Teach students how to play instruments and how to play together as a band.
*Work on skills for specific instruments; guitar, bass, piano, and drums.
*Develop the vocal abilities of students by working on pitch, vocal strength and harmonies
*Teach students to properly read lead sheets and chord charts and better understand tempo and timing.
*Teach students how operate musical technology and how to use soundboards, tracks, loops and other MIDI technology.
*Meet with the Pastors/Directors of each ministry to provide a united vision and direction that best serves the needs of the students.
Spiritually shepherd the bandleaders of the ministries and equip them to better shepherd each student team member.
*Provide a Bible study specifically geared to leadership in worship.
*Training for how to effectively lead a worship team that meets the
spiritual needs of both the congregation and the band members.
*Provide training for bandleaders to shepherd volunteers in the various worship teams.
*Provide training and experience for worship leaders to better evaluate and minister the spiritual needs of the congregation.
Be available to assist in the musical worship needs of other Highlands Church ministries
*6 hours meeting with leaders for training and evaluating the week’s services each week
*8 hours preparing new songs and creating new worship materials each week
*3 hours observing worship leaders during services times each week
*10 hours for set up, practices and leading ministries each week
*5 hours for study and preparation for scriptures, set lists and spiritual disciplines for the worship services each week.
*4 hours meeting with Brendan and pastors for planning, evaluation and training each week.
*4 hours for student training each week.
TOTAL of 40 hours a week
-Fit in well with entire student ministry team
-Be able to relate to students and adults through worship
-Have a minimum of 2 years worship leading experience in a student ministry setting
-Loves God more than he loves his craft
-Ability to relate to multiple generations
