Job Description:
This position is responsible for the development and oversite of a comprehensive year-round children's program for ages nursery through sixth grade. Some specific duties include: Teaching children in a variety of settings; recruiting, training, and supporting volunteers; working with parents; planning and organizing a variety of special and routine programs; developing and managing a budget for all ministries related to the children's program (except for our pre-school).
This position also provides general oversite to the educational ministries of the church for all ages. Some specific duties include: Recruiting, training, and supporting teachers; securing all curriculuum resources for ongoing and short-term groups and classes. Small group development is a responsiblity of this position.
This position is also responsible for implementation of our "safe-sanctuary" policy. A text of that policy is posted on our church website.
Applicants for this position must be a United Methodist or show evidence of his/her willingness to teach and lead from a Wesleyan tradition.
Applicants must have a college or graduate degree in Children's Ministry and/or Christian Education. An applicant shouold also have experience as a staff person working in the field of Children's Ministry or Christian Education.
Benefits for this position include: An unfurnished home; vacation, holidays, and sick-leave as stated in our employment policy; health benefits; and 7% retirement after one year of service.
The salary range is expected to be between $35,000 and $45,000 depending upon the applicants training and experience.
