Job Title: Community Life & Growth Pastor
Leadership: Senior Leadership
Classification: Exempt/Full time
Reports to: Senior Pastor

The role of the Community Life and Growth Pastor is to provide leadership and direction to the church which enhances the quality of Christian love, care and fellowship among the people of Riverside.


? BA or BS degree in ministry or related field required; divinity degree or MA in psychology or counseling preferred
? Meets Biblical qualifications for pastoral leadership
? 5-10 years of pastoral leadership experience
? Experience with direction, planning and administration of large church ministries
? Effective communication skills: written, verbal and interpersonal
? Demonstrated ability to understand, relate to and develop multiple generations
? Ability to recruit, motivate and equip interns and volunteer leaders to minister to the needs of community life
? Ability to work as part of a multiple staff while integrating community life programs with the entire church ministry
? Considers pastoral ministry as a life vocation
? Spiritual gifts of leadership, teaching, and administration/organization


? Fully embraces our mission “Experience Grace, Grow in Love, Give of Self”, as well as Riverside’s other vision, values and policy
? Pursue a vibrant relationship with Jesus Christ through the regular practice of spiritual disciplines including prayer, Bible reading and study, and worship
? Be reliable, take initiative, and be self motivated
? Embrace and adapt to growth, change, innovation and creativity
? Use appropriate judgment in the areas of discretion, sensitivity and confidentiality
? Have a cooperative, healthy and motivating relationship with supervisors and coworkers, and subordinates
? Maintains flexible working hours as determined by the needs of the ministry
? Regular attendance at worship services and availability to the congregation at such
? Full support of spouse, if married, to the ministry of Community Life


? Responsible for developing and implementing strategies that promote spiritual growth, discipleship, mentoring, and the equipping of people for ministry
? Develop comprehensive agenda and curriculum for adults to live out Riverside’s core values
? Provide leadership and direction to all Community life staff and volunteers including guest services, family programming, small groups, and other community life areas
? Design and administer programs that make every member, regular attendee, visitor and guest feel welcome and connected to the Riverside church body
? Participate in the general pastoral care of the congregation as directed in areas such as biblical counseling, performing weddings and funerals, and Sunday worship.
? Manage Community Life Ministries Budget
? Responsible for recruitment, training and supervision of paid staff, interns, and volunteer leaders
? Provide nurture and counsel to families
? Identify and cultivate people and ideas which allow attenders of Riverside to discover their spiritual gifts and use them to meet the needs of the church and their community


? Reports to the Senior Pastor
?? Accountable to the Board of Elders
? Supervises Community Life Assistant
? Works in concert with and supervises Care Pastor
? Receives consistent leadership from Senior Pastor
? Receives support from peers on Senior Leadership Team
? Works closely with facilities team, worship arts, communication arts department, volunteer ministries, care ministries
