Stetson Baptist Church in Central Florida is seeking a vibrant and energetic Family Pastor who will be responsible for a comprehensive ministry to families and children (nursery/pre-k - 5th grades).
Education and Required Skills
A committed Christian, able to share personal testimony of conversion, call to ministry, and current spiritual walk.
Agrees with Stetson Baptist church’s Statement of Faith (Baptist Faith and Message 2000).
A strong desire to see families and children receive Jesus Christ as their Lord and Savior and to lead children, families, and workers to be committed to service for the Lord.
A passion to create an environment for spiritual growth in parents and children.
A bachelor’s degree and/or 3+ years experience as full time Pastor/Director of Student, Children or Family Ministries.
Good organizational skills, including the ability to prioritize and be flexible, and the ability to work on multiple programs/projects at the same time.
Good communication skills to articulate clearly and effectively with all age groups.
Good leadership skills including the ability to lead both children and children and families ministry volunteer staff.
Timely and consistent attendance, participate in weekly staff meetings, and availability in the evenings and on weekends for ministry events.
The ability to present oneself professionally, maintain confidentiality, and to work independently with minimal supervision.
Specific Responsibilities and Duties
Give direction to and oversee the family and children ministry
- Identify the needs and interests of families and children within the church and community
- Plan and develop programs for the families and children ministry
- Consistently evaluate existing programs to determine effectiveness and make recommendations to improve effectiveness
A passion to create an environment for spiritual growth in parents and children
A passion to create an environment where children can learn and live out the amazing work of Jesus
Be responsible for equipping parents with opportunities and resources to fulfill God’s plan for the family
Develop a team of volunteer leaders in the family/children ministry and meet regularly to encourage, coordinate and provide training programs
Facilitate opportunities to build community among the volunteers
Develop and manage group sessions for parents to meet with other parents
Schedule and manage schedule changes to ensure the children ministry areas are adequately staffed
Oversee the room use, set-up requests, equipment needs, and resource supervision related to the specific ministry
Plan and direct activities for families on a regular basis
Plan, prepare and direct Vacation Bible School each year
Create and manage the budget of the Family/Children Ministry
Keep informed of new trends in Family Ministry and seek to enrich all facets of ministry to children by attending conferences, reading magazines, consulting other ministries, etc.
Encourage the participation by all families and children in the overall ministry opportunities of the church
Participate with pastoral staff in prayer, team building, and coordination of all ministries
