babysitting teens while the adults have “real church” or you are content just “trying to keep your handful of teens saved” till Jesus comes back, and your heart doesn’t break for the thousands of teens going to hell around you; PLEASE DON’T APPLY.

If your idea of successful youth ministry is getting together at the next local youth pastor network just to talk about how exciting your last float trip with your 3 homeschoolers was – but you haven’t stepped onto a high school campus since you graduated from high school; PLEASE DON’T APPLY!

If you have a MASTERS OF DIVINITY and are a professional youth ministry expert, but have never done real youth ministry, never have prayed with teens to accept Christ, never dealt with angry parents who thought you were too passionate about reaching lost teens, never experienced the heartbreak of burying a teenager whose life was cut tragically short, never volunteered as a youth leader while getting your “education,”you have no battle scars and no battle stories of being in the youth ministry trenches PLEASE DON’T APPLY. (If you have a college degree in youth ministry we won’t hold that against you as long as you have some real life youth ministry experience.)

My name is Erik Lawson and I am the Senior Pastor of element church in Wentzville MO (a suburb of St. Louis). By the grace of God we are one of the fastest growing church plants in St Louis history. In January, we will celebrate our 3-year birthday and are averaging 500-550 people in attendance and in the last 6 weeks have seen more than 100 decisions for Christ! We run hard, fast and have a blast fulfilling the vision to reach people and make fully devoted followers of Christ! Prior to planting element church, I had been in youth ministry 16 years and had the privilege of helping build oneighty the youth ministry of Church On The Move in Tulsa, OK! We grew to become the largest youth ministry in the nation. At the time of my departure as the Sr. Youth Pastor to plant element church, we were averaging more than 2,500 teenagers in attendance each week! Today, we have a great vision to reach massive amount of teenagers we just need that right person to come along side the vision.
