               Director of Worship & Connections, New Song Church (


New Song Church is looking for a dynamic, innovative person to create, direct, and produce weekly contemporary worship services. The Director will have the freedom to develop an inspiring, culturally relevant and memorable worship experience for both believers and seekers, and help coordinate various ministries that allow guests to employ their God-given gifts and graces in service. 

Balance the importance of ministering to, recruiting, and training a team of vocalists, instrumentalists, and technical support to create a cohesive, spiritually-significant worship service that makes an impact for Christ.  The Director will help lead, shape and oversee the worship and connectional culture of the church in conjunction with the church’s leadership; he/she will work to “bring alive” the Church’s mission, vision and core values.  A likeable, easy-going person with vision and the ability to both motivate and mobilize people is required.  Other responsibilities include: oversight of weekly rehearsals, development of media presentations for worship, insure the schedules for each part of the team are in order, attend weekly staff meetings, and continue in one’s own training.  Additional tasks: research and select music, possess an ability to recognize musical talent from within the congregation and encourage development of these graces, and to compile an annual budget and be responsible for the purchase of music, equipment and supplies (within the church’s purchasing guidelines). Guiding the Worship Leadership Team is required, as is the expectation to lead an existing group of team leaders for the Connection Ministries: First Impressions, Guest Services, Newcomer Follow-up, etc.

A mature, strong and growing relationship with Jesus Christ, along with being gifted in music as an expression of faith and creative artistic discernment.  Technical skills are preferred, to include visual illustration software and related needs for instrumental, vocal and audio-visual equipment.  Instrumental qualities and vocal gifts are preferred.  Other qualifications include: strong visionary, leadership and teaching gifts, creativity, planning and organizational skills; dependability; a developed familiarity in contemporary worship; self-discipline and self-motivation; effective team building and motivating; be a competent communicator (both interpersonally and publicly).  It is important that the Director hold and express theological positions on issues that are consistent with New Song’s teachings and the theology of the United Methodist Church. He/She will also need to understand and be willing to work within New Song’s leadership structure and system of denominational governance.


All employees of New Song Church will be subject to a 90-day probation timeframe for employee review.  The job performance of the Worship Leader will be evaluated annually by the Lead Pastor and Staff-Parish Relations Team.
