Position Title: Campus Pastor                             Status: Full-time

Reports to: FBC Lead Pastor                              Campus Location: Baldwin City, KS

The Baldwin City Campus Pastor will contribute to FBCs mission of seeing lives changed through becoming stronger disciples of Jesus Christ. He does this as the lead staff position and “face” of FBC in Baldwin City. He is primarily responsible for creating ministry teams and organizing volunteers at the campus while providing hands-on pastoral care of the flock. He will also work closely with ministry leaders from FBC Gardner to help organize campus ministries.

The Campus Pastor must meet the spiritual qualifications set forth in 1 Timothy 3:1-7 and Titus 1:6-9. Because the Campus Pastor is the primary leader of the campus, he will need to exhibit the following characteristics:

  • Proven Leadership – The Campus Pastor must have previous experience as a pastor at a local church. He must also understand and exemplify the servant nature of a Christian leader. He should possess the ability to appreciate the different gifts and abilities in people and encourage them to make the most of them in the local church. He must be willing to help develop people, confront people, encourage people and hold people accountable.

  • Team Oriented – The Campus Pastor will serve as a team member of the FBC pastoral staff, and will help develop ministry teams at the Baldwin City campus. Ideally the Campus Pastor is very discerning as to how and where individuals fit in the larger community and then helps them find their way to a place of meaningful service.

  • Connector – The Campus Pastor is the kind of person who is energized by people interaction. He enjoys meeting new people and is passionate about drawing new people into community. Ideally he and his wife (preferred to be married but not required) excel in hospitality.

  • Utility Player – The Campus Pastor will be able to perform a variety of necessary tasks within the life of a church. He will preach on occasion as well as teach (including adults and teens on occasion). The ideal candidate could even lead worship.

  • Scripturally Sound – The Campus Pastor must see the world through the lens of God’s unchanging truth. His life demonstrates unyielding commitment to understanding, practicing and teaching the Bible. His heart and mind and lifestyle are saturated with the Word and lived out in obedience to the Word.

The Campus Pastor is focused on the growth and development of the Baldwin City campus. As another site of FBC Gardner, the Campus Pastor will work closely with the FBC Lead Pastor, Elder Board and Ministry Team to carry out the 4Cs mission of disciple making as well as partnering in ministry opportunities when appropriate. All this is carried out through the following categories of service:

  • Campus Duties

    • Ensures that each Sunday service is properly executed.

    • Works with Ministry Team to prepare ministry budget for campus.

    • Recruit, train, develop, and equip key ministry leaders on the campus.

    • Maintain a presence in the Baldwin City community at as many local events as is reasonable.

    • Evaluate everything at the campus from technology to volunteers to ministry events while looking for ways to be more effective in making disciples.

  • Pastoral Duties

    • Serve as the “up front” leader of the campus on Sunday mornings – the “face with the place” for people to recognize as the Baldwin City campus leader.

    • Preach on occasion (at least 4 times a year).

    • Teach classes (Sunday morning, weekday, etc.).

    • Provide pastoral care to those in need on Baldwin campus or ensure that proper care is provided.

    • Perform marriages, funerals, baptisms and administer communion.

    • Work with team to follow up visitors and “fringe” attenders.

  • People Development

    • Continually meet with key leaders for prayer and vision-casting.

    • Be a mentor and disciple-maker.

    • Recruit campus ministry leaders.

    • Give feedback and evaluations to campus ministry leaders.
