Position: Director of Family Life - Special Needs
Hours: 25 weekly, including Sunday morning
Reports to: Senior Pastor

FUSION,began at Good Shepherd in 2010 as a ministry that would address the needs of families with special needs within our church and community. A part time staff position was developed in 2011 to support the ministry. FUSION currently consists of a monthly respite morning which serves individuals with special needs and their siblings, and also intentional inclusion and self-contained classrooms within Children’s Ministries on Sunday morning. We desire to see this ministry grow and flourish. An advisory team meets quarterly to ensure that the FUSION Ministry aligns with the vision of Good Shepherd.

Incumbent serves as part of the leadership team at Good Shepherd and directs the Special Needs Ministry of the church for all ages. Responsible for developing, implementing, and evaluating the Special Needs Ministry.

-Personal relationship with Jesus Christ and passion to share God’s love
-Ability to recruit,develop, and lead people and ministry teams
-Leadership strengths with ability to think strategically, cast vision and build teams
-Demonstrate strong personal and ministry organizational skills
-Possess advanced communication and interpersonal skills
-Special needs experience and skill set
-Proficient in Microsoft Office (word, publisher, excel, and PPT)

-Partners with Good Shepherd ministry leaders to implement Special Needs Ministry in alignment with church vision, values, and goals
-Recruits, develops, trains, and leads a team of volunteers and ministry leaders to serve families and individuals with special needs
-Consults with an advisory team to set and monitor ministry direction
-Serves as a liaison with Children, Student, and Adult Ministries in creating inclusion and self-contained learning opportunities for Sunday School,worship, and other family activities
-Connects personally with families and students within the Special Needs Ministry
-Develops on-going ministry opportunities such as a monthly respite program for individuals with special needs and their families, family support groups, and learning opportunities 
-Networks with community leaders in order to identify and provide appropriate opportunities for families and students
-Communicates and promotes special needs ministry within the congregation and community
-Manages special needs ministry budget
-Seeks and maintains grants
-Performs related duties as needed
