McFarlin Memorial United Methodist Church is a congregation whose vision is to change lives that change the world. The staff members are guided by the teachings of Colossians 3:12-14, and are called to be servant leaders who embrace the values of commitment, cooperation, compassion, and kindness as they serve God, each other, and the congregation.


We are seeking a Middle School Youth Director to plan and implement all aspects of a Middle School Student Ministry of a growing church with over 2,500 active constituents located next to the University of Oklahoma. The Director would work closely with other age-level ministry areas and senior staff to determine the direction and execution of Middle School ministries that live out the vision and mission of the church. This is a full-time, salaried position reporting to the Executive Program Director.


Responsibilities Include:

  • Lead Sunday morning and evening activities, to include Bible Studies, fellowship, and recreation
  • Organize mid-week discipleship and service opportunities
  • Lead, teach, and coordinate annual confirmation for 8th Grade Students
  • Direct and facilitate Middle School Leadership Team, and provide for all the administrative support tasks of the ministry
  • Organize local and out-of-area service opportunities
  • Provide and maintain ministry records and rolls as well as calendar of events
  • Develop and administer departmental budgets
  • Recruit, equip, and empower volunteer parents and other adults
  • Provide and foster caring community through personal visits, phone calls, email, and social media
  • Work with Children's Ministry Team, High School Youth Direcetor, Connections Director, and other ministry leaders in developing and implementings inter-generational opportunities for community, discipleship, and service
  • Bachelor's degree in Religious Studies, Education, or Youth Ministry preferred, but not required
  • Large church experience preferred, but not required
  • Minimum of three years experience in Youth Ministry
