Vision: Our dream for the families of young children at SFC is to faithfully pass on to our children a compelling faith that is modeled by parents, pastors and volunteers. Not only does this goal have eternal benefits for every child but it also is transformational for families as they take serious the call for discipleship within the home. With this in mind, SFC hopes to turn every household into its own small group and turn this ministry into an interconnected multi-generational system of support and discipleship that prepares children to enter a hurting world with a Gospel message that has not simply been received but also made their own. 

Purpose: To oversee ministry to families with young children with a primary focus of discipling parents and equipping them to disciple their children.


Accountability: This position will report to the Teaching Pastor.


Major Duties:


Work cooperatively with other church staff to shepherd and lead God’s church and to promote the values, visions and goals established by the Elders and church leadership.


Oversee ministry to children birth through fifth grade including recruiting/training volunteers and establishing curriculum.


Build a leadership team that will execute effective ministry to young couples and families with young children.


Preach and teach regularly in worship and other venues.


Create regular events that equip young couples, families with young children and children towards a growing faith in the home.


Give vision and leadership to our passion for attracting and retaining young families.


Promote community and discipleship for young families through our existing small group system.


Act as pastor to young couples and families with young children. Share general pastoral and administrative duties with other members of the pastoral staff.

Seminary graduate preferred. Prefer 5+ years of experience in family ministries.
