Job Description:

The Ark Church in Conroe (just north of Houston,) Texas is seeking a Lighting/Stage Director who will participate in planning, set-up, operation and maintenance of audio, video, and lighting equipment for Sunday and Wednesday worship services, conferences, and special events.  This position will have a strong emphasis on Lighting.

The Ark Church began in 1996 with Pastor Alan & Joy Clayton and 2 other couples coming out of Lakewood Church under founding pastor, John Osteen (Joel's father). We are a contemporary evangelical church with a charismatic background currently averaging 5,000-6,000 in weekly attendance. 


This position is designed for a self-initiating, motivated, problem-solving action-oriented person.  Organization and administration are a must with the flexibility to both lead and follow, respond quickly and efficiently to on-call situations, and be able to work day's, some night's, and weekends.

Talents & Abilities:

  • Minimum of 2 years experience in Lighting for a Live/Worship/Broadcast environment

  • Experience in A/V/L equipment setup, installation, and operation

  • Proficient with PCO, Jands Vista, ProPresenter

  • Vectorworks/Illustrator Experience A Must

  • Knowledge of Corporate Event Production, Schedules, and Work Load

  • Experience with Mac & Windows

  • Knowledge of various lighting fixtures - (Conventional, LED, Intelligent)

  • Excellent initiative, interpersonal, communication, and customer service skills

  • Possess a willingness to serve

  • Ability to work under pressure while maintaining deadlines

  • Professional completion of time sensitive tasks related to weekly events and services

  • An effective troubleshooter with a cool head

  • Dependable, self-motivated and comfortable taking initiative

  • Not willing to cut corners

  • Training and building up of Volunteers

Responsibilities & Duties

  • Lighting Director for All Auditoriums and Venues

  • Maintain A/V/L equipment for service and security

  • Assist other ministries with Technical needs as directed

  • Setup, install, maintain, and operate A/V/L systems equipment

  • Provide Lighting expertise for purchases, installations and outside events

  • Maintain A/V/L systems for all needed rooms and venues


  • Lighting Director for All Auditoriums and Venues

  • Attend pre-planning meeting and rehearsals

  • Operate Lighting for Rehearsals, Service, Special Events

  • Provide Technical expertise and advice on lighting systems

  • Experience with Lighting For Live Worship/Broadcast

  • Setup/Strike auditorium stages and other venues as required

  • Provide Lighting Designs in Vectorworks/Illustrator


  • Assist with planning and installation of A/V/L and Structured Cabling

  • Document installation(s)

  • Technical equipment problem solving

  • Provide routine maintenance for all Lighting Equipment

  • Provide input for Project Budgets for Technical Projects

  • An eye for detail and quality 

STAGE: (20%)

  • Assist with Design and Construction of Stage Sets

  • Knowledge of Set Design and Construction

  • Vectorworks/Illustrator experience


  • Attend required meetings

  • Meet with other departments to assist with Technical needs

  • Managing volunteers and production sheets through

Schedule:    Full Time

May require evening and weekend work to support various events and functions

Currently weekly services include Sunday and Wednesday worship services, and Thursday rehearsals
