Director of Technology for Worship & Events
40000 Six Mile Rd.
Northville, MI 48168
Job Type: Full-Time + Benefits (pay is commensurate with experience and giftedness)
What we are looking for:
We are looking for a Tech Director who loves God big, someone who is known for their ceaselessly kind people skills and leading teams (someone who values people over "getting the job done") and that has main technical gifts revolving around the "live" worship
experience - starting with highest gifts in the area of audio technology. We are looking for an audio mix that has a crystal clear vocals-driven sound with a full, thick and crisp instrumental mix. We are looking for the audio mix to translate into “experience”
and not just noise. Something to feel and not just hear, but nothing too invasive in some of our venues. This ideal candidate would also be great with production leadership (i.e.: calling cues like a director on a Clearcom-type system) or is a highly gifted
trainer with the ability to raise up appropriately gifted people to lead worship service and special event production. While live technical gifts are of first priority, Video is still certainly a needed area of a good amount of working expertise. We have
video venues and you must know how to operate, train and maintain the video feeds into each venue and online. Bachelor’s degree in a technological area is preferred. At least 5-10 years leadership experience in a large contemporary church setting is preferred.
A little about us:
Ward Church really is that church that you can call home and call it home for a long time. There are so many wonderful people that have been at Ward for years and years. We run three different worship service venues and our tech department supports all
things A/V tech related for those venues, for church-wide events and provides A/V tech support for other ministries within the church. We have a very diverse multi-venue format for worship and reaching out. The three different venues consist of a smaller,
low tech, simple and very early morning Chapel service (150 people or so), two Traditional Services with a blended edge (around 2/3 of the congregation) and two Post-Modern/Post-Rock type services (around 1/3 of the congregation) that run simultaneously with
the Traditional services in a different room. We are also looking at starting a Contemporary worship service and we are anticipating that venue scratching a big itch in our congregation and community, as well! We are looking to add to what is already going
great in the worship services and we want to become more production oriented to help create more of distraction-free and excellent worship experience. Currently, our pastors rotate live between speaking in the Traditional and the Post-Modern services. A
live (10 minute delay - computer driven and DVR backup) video feed is sent to the other room when they are not in that room live. You would report to the Director of Worship and you would also have a 3/4-time Tech Assistant who is a "do it" person alongside
you in ministry who is already on staff leading in the interim and has great gifts in creative arts (graphics, stage design), sound and more.
You can learn a little bit more about us online in any of these 3 places:
