Calvary is in search of a creative, caring, and Christ-focused individual to serve as Director of Student Ministries for our growing congregation.  As a member of Calvary’s Family Life Team, the Director of Student Ministries is responsible for the organization and facilitation of junior and senior high ministry, based upon the vision of Calvary United Methodist Church.

The Director of Student Ministries position will provide leadership, guidance, and inspiration to volunteers, staff and families. This position will further the church mission to create disciples for Jesus Christ among our youth.  The successful candidate must be a strong team player with the ability to effectively manage staff and multiple program areas. The Director of Student Ministries will work with the Family Life Team and report to the Director of Family Life.  This position will oversee and equip the Coordinator of Student Spiritual Development.

Responsibilities of this position include the following:

  • Live as an example of Christian formation to the youth and other leaders

  • Collaborate with Pastors, Family Life Team and Student Ministries Committee in planning and implementing ministry objectives

  • Maintain open availability for youth and parent conferences

  • Build and maintain relationships with the Junior & Senior High youth and their families

  • Foster and maintain intentional communication strategies with parents

  • Work alongside Connections Team to identify, recruit and support teachers, leaders and volunteers consistent with Calvary’s Child Protection policy

  • Provide leadership, direction and support for senior and junior high ministry volunteers

  • Help develop training programs for the leaders/volunteers in order to meet their objectives and foster an environment for ministry growth

  • Work with Connections Team to effectively communicate Student Ministry events and opportunities with the larger congregation

  • Participate in collegial gatherings in and beyond the community to grow in and contribute to God’s work beyond the local congregation

  • Attend required staff and church meetings

  • Maintain church calendar with events pertaining to Student Ministries

  • Responsibility for student ministries strategic plan and budget

  • Maintain student database and forms

The ideal candidate will have:

  • Professed relationship with Jesus Christ; commitment to UMC teachings

  • Master’s degree from accredited seminary is preferred

  • 3-5 years of experience in education, religion, or a related area

  • Strong team, collaborative and relational skills throughout the organization

  • Strong communication & presentation skills with groups of multiple sizes

  • Creativity and high energy necessary to work with youth

  • Demonstrable leadership abilities

  • Strong administrative and organizational skills

  • Strong computer skills

  • Willingness for professional growth

Salary: $37,000-$40,000.
