Roles & Responsibilities
One sentence summary: Our Children’s Pastor will lead our elementary team to accomplish our vision of helping families Discover Jesus and Experience life in Him.
There are a few roles that will surface more than others during this next season for our Children's Pastor:
Team Builder. You see your role as one who helps equip others to accomplish the work God has entrusted to us. We have new families coming each and every week, so we are constantly needing to expand our team too. The new pastor will be able to recruit and train
leaders who can do the work of the ministry.
Vision Caster for ministry to elementary age kids and their families. We think orange at Lakeland, and believe that the best way for kids to learn to love Jesus is to partner with parents. Your job would be to set the tone in creating irresistible environments
kids love to come back to, and set parents up to have success modeling a life that experiences Jesus everyday.
Outreach Catalyst - We do a few strategic events each year to reach out to our community. Since families are one of our biggest targets you will play an important role in helping mobilize teams to reach out to our community. In this role you’ll help design,
plan, and implement events to introduce unchurched families to Lakeland.

Who is Lakeland?
Lakeland is a non-denominational Bible church located in the heart of Walworth County, WI. Its location is a blessing in the sense that it draws from all the surrounding cities (Population of approximately 50,000 within 10 miles of Lakeland). We’re also ideally
located about an hour from Madison, Milwaukee, and Rockford, IL. Lakeland is less than 15 years old and in those years has accrued land, has built a beautiful building, and has a solid base of families who’s lives have been changed by the power of Jesus. Lakeland’s
vision is to help people discover Jesus and experience life in Him. We don’t like to beat around the bush and play church, but instead motivate and activate His followers to go and be the church. Almost 2 1/2 years ago Lakeland hired it’s current Sr. Pastor
Josh Amstutz. Since his arrival the church has grown from 150 to 500+. Pastor Josh and his wife Lisa definitely are an attraction to young families as they have seven young children of their own…and no they don’t home school. Lakeland has a contemporary,
down to earth, edgy, raw, and relevant feel. We’re not afraid to make mistakes and take risks as the Holy Spirit leads us.
Lakeland has an exciting future ahead of us. But it’s not going to be an easy road--we’ve maxed our facility and are in the building expansion process with hopes to break ground on future expansion in the fall. With growth we’re facing needs in all areas,
one of which is the increased amount of work for our Family Pastor who oversees our children’s and student ministries. This position would come under the leadership of our Family Pastor to help implement the vision of Lakeland within our children’s ministry.
Who are we looking for?
Lakeland is definitely looking for a unique personality in this position--Picture Chris Farley mixed with your favorite coach. We need a person magnet--one of those personalities that is entertaining, exciting, and fun to be around. In the DISC Assessment,
you’d be a high “I” likely mixed with a high “D”. While your personality must be one who can mobilize, encourage, and excite children, parents, and volunteers, Lakeland is centering our focus on making disciples who make disciples. This means that we expect
all people, but especially our staff, to model good coaching, empowering, and the raising up of leaders. If you are a mix of these natural gifts and are wired in this way, we’d love to talk with you.
Someone willing to grow with the ministry
While this position is a part-time position, with Lakeland’s fast growth pace we would anticipate taking this person to full-time within a year. A likely candidate would be a fresh college graduate who is passionate about children, loves God and people, and
could see themselves really growing with the ministry from the ground up.
