                                                    Cornerstone Children’s Center Site Supervisor


General Job Description

The site supervisor oversees the personnel, facility, curriculum and communication of Cornerstone Children’s Center.  Cornerstone Children’s Center is a ministry of First Presbyterian Church of Berkeley.  Cornerstone Children’s Center is a Christian play-based infant/toddler and preschool program



Report directly to Program Director

Meet regularly with the Cornerstone Advisory Board (CAB) and the Program Director





                Hire, terminate, supervise, train and evaluate teaching staff for the center per licensing and personnel requirements.

                Keep personnel records in compliance with church, state, and federal regulations.

                Promote professional development of staff.

                Make classroom assignments, determine job duties and communicate school policies to staff.

                Encourage positive inter-staff and staff/client interactions.



                Supervise maintenance and organization of facility to implement safe, appropriate program, and conform to licensing standards.

Consult with ECM Directors and other church staff as necessary on maintenance and use of shared facility areas or equipment.



                Assist staff in planning and supervise implementation of developmentally appropriate         curriculum.

                Coordinate Christian elements of curriculum with ECM program.

                Arrange curriculum enrichment opportunities through parent participation or community resources.


Daily Operations:

                Conduct daily business of the school.

                Implement licensing regulations in all aspects of the program.

                Set class calendars and schedules.

                Maintain children’s records.

                Direct and train staff in evacuation procedures.

Fill in for Program Director as needed



                Be available to parents and staff to answer questions and discuss concerns.

                Provide clients and staff with child development and parenting resources.

                Make client referrals to other programs as necessary.






Strong Christian faith

Ability to lead prayer

AA/AS degree or higher in Child Development or related field

Site Supervisor or Program Director qualified according to state licensing requirement with 3 units in infant/toddler development

3 years minimum of supervisory experience in a large center (staff over 10)

3 years minimum in planning/implementing curriculum

Confident in setting limits with children, staff and parents

Excellent communication verbally and written

Able to lift up to 50lbs above waist level

Official transcript for all ECE course and degrees

CPR/1st Aid/Infectious Disease hours required and current
