RiverLakes Community Church (RLCC) is growing, non-denominational, evangelical church with a weekly average attendance of 2000 people.  Located in northwest Bakersfield, CA; RLCC is passionate about helping people know Christ, grow in Christ and go for Christ.    We are excited to announce our search for a new Worship Pastor who will enthusiastically lead us to God’s throne room in our weekend services.  If you are an experienced, dynamic leader who longs to see God’s people passionately worship---then we would like to talk with you! 



The Associate Pastor of Worship & Arts should:

  • have a clear testimony of faith in Jesus Christ and a passionate, growing, personal relationship with Him
  • have a history of  ministry integrity and moral purity
  • meet the biblical qualifications for elder (1 Timothy 3:1-7; Titus 1:5-9)
  • be a self-starter with drive, passion and initiative
  • be teachable, humble, respectful and willing to be held accountable
  • be a team player with a “can do” attitude
  • be a strong leader that is organized and goal oriented



Qualified candidates will possess the following:

  • At least 5 years experience as the primary, on-platform, contemporary worship leader in a church averaging at least 1000 in total weekly attendance
  • A degree from an accredited 4-year bible college or seminary
  • Enthusiastic support of the doctrine, vision and worship philosophy of RLCC
  • A proven ability to lead and engage God’s people in vertical, spirit-filled worship
  • A track record of recruiting, developing and managing volunteers
  • A Scripturally based philosophy of worship
  • Fluency in current contemporary worship music styles (Matt Redman, Chris Tomlin, Hillsong Live, Jesus Culture, Passion Band, etc.)
  • The mindset of a “lead worshiper” amongst a team of worship leaders
  • Excellent acoustic guitar and lead vocal abilities
  • Exceptional people and leadership skills
  • Exceptional competence in arranging vocalists and instrumentalists
  • Experience leading and shepherding staff
  • A working knowledge of current sound, lighting and projection technology



  • Plan and lead high-impact worship services with the Senior Pastor
  • Oversee all the production elements in our weekend services (instrumental, vocal & technical)
  • Build a worship department that values excellent, relevant, contemporary, biblical, Christ-centered, vertical worship
  • Implement the biblical philosophy of worship approved by the Elders and Staff
  • Provide worship leadership at additional “all-church” events and meetings as needed
  • Recruit, manage and develop multiple worship teams
  • Meet monthly with a Leadership Team that grows and develops the overall ministry
  • Plan and manage an annual ministry budget
  • Participate in staff meetings and a small group for accountability
  • Provide coaching and resources for our children’s and youth worship ministries
  • Develop a process for auditioning and grooming up-and-coming musicians
  • Supervise the Director of Technical Arts (FT) and an Administrative Assistant (PT)
  • Additional miscellaneous projects or duties as assigned by the Senior Pastor
