Summary of Position: 


The Young Adults Coordinator is responsible for supporting the Pastor of Young Adults and the SOFA Ministries. This individual will have the ability to multi-task in a fast-paced environment and will be a self-starter. He/she will be able to work independently and make decisions within their scope of authority, as well as gather information necessary for the pastor to make informed decisions on director-level matters upon his return. This full-time position reports to the Pastor of Young Adults (Pastor).


Duties and Responsibilities:


  1. Provides clerical support for the Pastor
  2. Opens Pastor’s mail and sorts by priority; distributes and takes action on mail/notes as directed by the Pastor
  3. Types and distributes letters, memos, cards, emails and faxes; responds to general info emails, phone calls, and letters
  4. Screens all phone calls and answers requests that do not require the Pastor’s personal response
  5. Maintains various files and binders for the Pastor’s ready reference
  6. Maintains administrative and general information files, plus various reports, articles, magazines and pamphlets
  7. Prepares materials needed for Pastor’s teaching opportunities, including outlines, handouts and PowerPoint presentations
  8. Researches miscellaneous topics on the Internet, upon request
  9. Prepares reports and agendas and takes minutes for meetings
  10. Administration
  11. Oversees office organization
  12. Orders materials and supplies as necessary
  13. Maintains SOFA participation database; tracks SOFA attendees/guests
  14. Uses Arena to send emails to participants to keep them up-to-date on events
  15. Regularly updates website with Bible study and event information
  16. Reconciles expenses, submits purchase orders (POs) for payment, files POs for future reference
  17. Schedules facilities for SOFA events/activities
  18. In conjunction with the Communication Arts Department, coordinates announcements (bulletin, video, web, etc.) for SOFA Ministries events
  19. Leadership
  20. With the Pastor, develops a strategy for continuing to identify the needs of the emerging culture and how SOFA can best meet those needs
  21. With the Pastor, develops/implements a strategy to grow community within SOFA attendees
  22. With the Pastor, develops/implements a strategy to ensure the SOFA Community is effectively reaching out and impacting this generation in Colorado Springs
  23. With the Pastor, develops/implements a strategy to reach out to the City of Colorado Springs and surrounding communities through service projects and evangelism
  24. Develops a strategy to meet the spiritual needs of women though coaching and developing female leaders in the SOFA community
  25. Assists the Pastor in responding to crisis situations with women, as the need occurs
  26. Schedules, trains, utilizes and works with Ministry Partners (MPs) for ministry events and daily office tasks; develops and empowers SOFA volunteers to be mobilized in their specific areas of responsibility
  27. Answers questions from staff and outside callers as they relate to SOFA Ministries
  28. Follows up on requests from weekend bulletin insert re SOFA
  29. Prepares information to be handed out at SOFA Ministries table at Woodmen Welcomes and Discovery Classes
  30. All other duties as requested


 Minimum Requirements:


A.  Education/Experience:

  1. Minimum of 2 years administrative assistant experience
  2. Typing skills: minimum of 50-60 wpm
  3. Proficiency in Windows, including Outlook, Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint; proficiency in use of the Internet
  4. Proficiency in database use; Arena experience desired
  5. Experience in all office procedures and office machines
  6. Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  7. Strong “attention to detail” and organizational skills
  8. Skill in dealing with people
  9. Self-motivated and flexible
  10. A servant’s heart, an even temperament and an innovative spirit
  11. Good judgment: ability to handle decisions within own authority and refer other matters to the appropriate person
  12. Needs minimal or no supervision
  13. An ongoing/growing relationship with Christ as demonstrated through regular prayer, Bible study and worship attendance
  14. A regular attendee or member of WVC who supports its vision and values with their time and financial resources


B.   Physical Requirements:

  1. Walking/climbing stairs/light lifting (must be able to lift and carry up to 35 lbs.)
  2. Proficiency in operating the following equipment: computer, copier, printer, multi-line phone system, fax machine
  3. Availability to work periodic evenings and weekends
  4. Must have transportation for commuting between campuses
