Purpose: To lead our church in:
•Educating adults to enjoy and obey God
•Equipping them to engage their gifts in serving, leading, and evangelizing
•Providing pastoral care to encourage our people toward Christ-likeness at key junctures in life
•Catalyzing involvement in community outreach and overseas missions
Ministry Approach: Development of leaders and teams who will aggressively fulfill the above purpose
•An individual who wants a BIG challenge and a BIG opportunity to make a BIG difference in this spiritual wasteland of New England. Those easily discouraged need not apply.
•A mature believer who demonstrates the fruit of the Spirit and character qualities outlined in 1 Timothy 3:1-7, Titus 1:5-9, 1 Peter 5:1-4, and Acts 6:4.
•A heart for people and a calling to help adults mature in their faith, service, and evangelistic outreach
•A leader of leaders who has a passion for equipping, discipleship, and development of biblical leaders
•Necessary Traits: Love for people, self-motivated, organized, passionate, humble, desire for excellence, team-player, and a heart for the lost
•Necessary Spiritual Gifts/Abilities: Leadership, shepherd, discipler, equipper, educator/teacher
•Necessary Skills: Strategic thinking, team building, strong communication, recruiting, developing, multiplying, administration, problem solving, people skills
•A desire to serve on a team
•Four or more years of experience in full time ministry
•A Bible college degree or higher, a seminary degree preferred
•A calling from God to minister in the New England area
Hours: Full Time (50-55 hrs/week)
•The Associate Pastor is directly responsible to and supported by the Senior Pastor.
•The part-time Missions Secretary and the Visitation & Newcomers Director report directly to the associate pastor.
•Develop core curriculum for Sunday school classes for the ongoing education of all members.
•Develop key classes on family life, marriage, and parenting
•Oversee the leaders of the following ministries: Men’s, Women’s, Young Adults, Seniors, Divorce Care
•Equip and oversee Sunday school teachers, seminar leaders, ministry team leaders.
•Oversee existing equipping seminars: Leadership Summit (team leadership), New Partners (membership), and SHAPE (gifting/service).
•Develop and oversee new equipping seminars—evangelism, missions, etc. . . .
3.Outreach and Missions
•Work with the Missions Team and Missions Secretary to expand our support of overseas missions. Encourage active involvement of our people and develop home grown missionaries who will go out to serve.
•Catalyze our people to serve and share their faith with those in their circles of influence.
•Develop an outreach team to motivate and support individuals, teams, and small groups to serve in their communities and reach out to share the gospel.
•Oversight of leaders of outreach ministries—MOPS, Camp Cedarwood, Wee Care . . .
•Oversee ceremonies (weddings, baptisms, dedications, funerals . . .) and develop teams to coordinate logistics.
•Work with our Visitations & Newcomers Director to ensure the care of our sick and elderly. Support the director in developing visitation teams.
•Support our Visitations & Newcomers Director to ensure that newcomers are assimilated into our body.
•Provide short term counseling to individuals and families as needed. Together with the Senior Pastor, develop a pre-marital counseling program. Oversee marriage mentors.
