Director of Preschool Ministry

Job Description


General Duties and responsibilities:

To support the Vision, Purpose, and Process of McKinney Church by leading all components of the ministry to preschoolers and their families.


Job Scope:

Position provides directional leadership of all aspects of Preschool Ministry outlined below:


A.  Sunday morning:

  • Oversee the Sunday morning teaching ministry to preschoolers
  • Recruit, train and encourage youth and adults for the classroom
  • Prepare classrooms for Sunday morning
  • Order, compile, distribute curriculum and supplies for preschool teachers.  Research and select new curriculum as needed
  • Train and oversee team greeters for placement of childrens/guests in classes

B.  Explosion

  • Serve with Children’s Ministry team in recruiting, training, and coordinating all components of Explosion
  • Research and order curriculum and materials
  • Interview and train all volunteers
  • Provide leadership for the event

C.  Family Ministry

  • Function as the liaison for preschoolers between home and church
  • Build relationships with parents
  • Establish a partnership with parents in building a strong, spiritual foundation in the lives of children to lead them into a personal and dynamic relationship with Jesus Christ

D.  Resource Room

  • Maintain inventory of Resource Room
  • Organize supplies and help maintain environment
  • Order supplies as needed
  • Coordinate volunteers for organizing Resource Room
  • Work with ELC in all of the above

E.  Children’s Ministry Team

  • Function as a member of the Children’s Ministry team, assisting the Director of Children’s Ministries in whatever ways she discerns most effective
  • Work in conjunction with ELC with shared classroom/storage/resource space

Competencies/specific experience or training preferred:

  • College and/or seminary preferred
  • Background in children’s education or experience

  • Ability to solve practical problems on the spot
  • Positive interpersonal skills
