Job Description:
Position: Director of Youth and Young Adult Ministries



Job Objectives: Bring young people to Christ, build them up to Christian maturity, train them in ministry, then send them out on their life’s mission all for the glory of God. Lead the youth and young adult ministries.

Working to increase the number and spiritual depth of active youth participating regularly in the youth program, attendance at Sunday worship, and awareness of the church’s profile in the youth community of El Paso.

Job Requirements: Bachelor’s Degree in Youth Ministry or experience in the field of Youth Ministry or a combination of both education and experience in the field of youth ministry. Highly energized, must be fueled by faith in Jesus Christ, and have a calling to share this love of Jesus with youth. Must be open to the power of the Holy Spirit and evangelize with young people in the Jr. High and Sr. High age group.

Qualifications: Lutheran background with an emphasis on youth ministry or a combination of education and experience in youth ministry. Be diligent in personal devotions and prayers. Be fully committed to the basic beliefs, vision, and core values of CrossPoint. Have heart and passion for loving people, especially young people and leading them to Jesus.

Position reports to: Senior Pastor

Youth Director Responsibilities and Tasks:

1. Develop a comprehensive ministry program for Jr. High, Sr. High, College/Career and singles.

Evangelism:
a. Moving unchurched youth from the community to membership in the church.
b. Plan and execute outreach activities to the parents of youth who do not attend Crosspoint church
c. Community outreach activities that will demonstrate CrossPoint as the youth community center of east El Paso.
d. Establish a regular and effective presence in the community (i.e. having leaders at local schools, skate parks, popular hang out spots, on a regular basis)
e. Tracking of active and inactive youth and develop a follow up plan.
f. To develop a youth ministry brochure and other public relation ideas to share the ministry with east El Paso.
g. Follow up of young people who attend week-end services.

2. Develop an effective program to develop a partnership between the parents and the Youth Ministry.

Parent Partnership:

a. Communication with the parents of the Youth
b. Recruit, train, encourage and support lay people in various volunteer ministries that are working with you.


3. Develop a dynamic youth discipleship program, which will develop a faith community within the youth ministry and move our youth from the community to the congregation.

As we grow in Him:

a. Development of a youth discipleship plan which will share the gospel and begin their journey of discipleship.
b. Networking with other effective youth leaders to get refreshing ideas.
c. Confirmation – develop an effective confirmation class, which will develop our youth into maturing Christians.
d. Teach youth to practice responsible stewardship in personal giving and projects.
e. Oversee youth worship teams
f. Developing and running an effective small group ministry for the youth
g. Ensure students are being mentored by adults and leaders of the church
h. Overseeing the weekly youth service


4. Create and develop a service oriented youth ministry to include:

a. Scheduled service projects for CrossPoint.
b. Community service projects – develop projects that will benefit the youth community of east El Paso.
c. Networking to find the specific needs or service that CrossPoint can perform.
d. Mission outreaches.
e. Serving in church ministries (ushering, nursery, powerpoint, soundboard).
f. Recording youth ministry notes in Shepherd Staff to track youth attendance at activities and special ministry notes to become more effective in our ministry of youth.
g. Track and record gifts and talents of youth in Shepherd Staff to help when special youth events require event leaders to assist.
h. Develop a youth group video diary of activities for promotional events or to profile events with the congregation.
i. Identify special ministry needs of youth to help broaden the scope of their interests at CrossPoint (developing skills, creating mentoring programs, or needed adult assistance with special areas of youth interests, like computers, sports, arts & sciences.)

5. Create a youth leadership web of ministry (a church within a church) which will evaluate and improve the key areas of your youth ministry: Evangelism, Discipleship, and Service.

Leadership:

a. Actively recruit leaders to the youth leadership team
b. Run a leadership team that includes both adults and students
c. Ensure Youth leadership training on a regular basis
i. Regular leadership meetings
ii. Gathering and distributing training resources for the leaders
iii. Conferences and seminars
iv. One on one mentoring and performance reviews
v. Holding leaders accountable to their commitments and job descriptions
d. Assist leaders in finding their giftings and serving according to their SHAPE

6. Develop an effective communication plan with the congregation and leadership in the congregation.

a. Annually planned calendar of promotional events and youth activities to be coordinated.
b. Budgeting for Youth ministry on an annual basis.
c. Annually planned fund-raising activities
d. Annual self-appraisal report of objectives.
e. Newsletters

7. Network with other youth ministries
a. Participate in the El Paso Youth Minister’s Network
b. Support city-wide events


All other responsibilities as requested by the Senior Pastor.


Starting date –

Salary package - $28,000 - 36,000 annual salary to be paid semi-monthly
$12,000-15,000 Benefit Package - Concordia plan which includes medical & dental coverage, disability and retirement package.
Vacation – 3 weeks annually, all designated holidays, mileage
reimbursement for use of personal vehicle in carrying out duties of ministry
position.

Annual performance and wage review

Reimbursement of moving expenses up to $1,000.
