This position would work as part of a team of three Family Ministry Directors who would collaborate together providing an incredible ministry to children Birth to 12th Grade. Below are the three principle parts of THIS position description – the description of the other two positions does not appear here.
PART 1 – Design and Maintenance of Christian Education Curriculum Birth thru Grade 12: Relying heavily upon key-quality volunteers, the Curriculum Director will oversee the design of the curriculums and teaching, sharing Christ with children birth thru grade 12. The resulting curriculums and teachings should be exciting, well thought-out, age appropriate, Christ-centered, biblically informed, and well rounded, eventually bringing children to Christ “head, heart, and hands” with appropriate emphasis upon biblical literacy, spiritual disciplines, and outreach (see Surrender Together Love paradigm). They will be heavily supported by musical, theatrical, and electronic arts which will be the responsibility of the Program Director.
(expect to work with 2-6 volunteers in this area)
PART 2 – Train, Equip, and Manage Small Group Leaders: The curriculum director will train and equip hands-on volunteers who will serve as small group leaders, core group leaders, mentors, and caregivers for children birth through 12 grade. The Curriculum Director will be responsible for print materials, small teaching props, manipulative/crafts, and small group illustrations that support Christian Education (but not drama, music, videos, or things of that nature). The Curriculum Director will assist the Team Formation Director in recruiting. (expect to work with 100+ volunteers in this area)
PART 3 – Long Range Vision: All Family ministers will work collaboratively with the pastors and elders to design long range plans and goals for ministry to children and families
Masters of Divinity or Masters in Christian Education, and 2 years experience as paid-staff head of children’s department (100+ kids) or a youth department (60+ kids). (5 years experience and strong references could replace Masters degree)
