The Pastor of Worship and College/Career Ministry – Barrington is a campus staff position that exists to glorify God by multiplying God-centered, Christ-exalting, world transforming believers through leading Gospel saturated worship services and a vibrant college/career ministry.





  • Provide leadership in the creation, coordination and execution of weekly worship services
  • Participate in the weekly worship coordination process to ensure the promotion of The Orchard’s worship values
  • Recruit excellent musicians, vocalists, and volunteer worship leaders to participate on the worship team
  • Develop the worship team to regularly produce high-quality, dynamic and enthusiastic worship music consistent with The Orchard’s worship values
  • Lead a pastoral ministry of the Word and prayer towards all college-aged adults and career-aged adults (22-29) in our congregation
  • Form and lead a lay ministry (or teams) in the implementation of these duties and help identify and develop individuals with leadership gifts for broader church responsibilities
  • Work with campus pastor on order of service
  • Serve as the primary worship leader for the Barrington Campus
  • Utilize repertoire (40 songs) that promotes The Orchard’s worship values
  • Support the pastor of student ministries in training and developing student musicians
  • Shepherd, encourage, train and develop musicians at the Barrington Campus
  • Design and lead special services (e.g. Good Friday, Thanksgiving Eve, Christmas Eve)
  • Manage the worship ministry budget for the Barrington Campus
  • Serve in other pastoral responsibilities as directed by the Campus Pastor



  • Meets qualifications for leadership referenced in 1 Timothy 3 and Titus 1
  • High degree of musical training and literacy along with competency both instrumentally and vocally
  • Bachelor’s degree/Master’s degree preferred
  • Detail-orientated to provide quality work and complete assigned tasks accurately
  • Ability to handle multiple tasks within projects and assignments regardless of interruptions
  • Ability to organize, analyze and execute tasks in a timely manner
  • Exercise discretion and good judgment in personal contacts
  • Interpersonal skills with ability to communicate effectively with management and volunteers
  • Demonstrate professionalism through appearance, attitude and loyalty
  • Self-motivated and able to initiate projects and work independently
  • Computer literate in order to complete necessary tasks within software applications
  • Positive and supportive attitude
