Job Description:

newhope church is a fast-growing, multi-site, and contemporary church located in Durham, NC. We are looking for a First Contact Coordinator to help us fulfill our mission to REACH-TEACH-RELEASE in the Carolinas.


The First Contact Coordinator will equip volunteer leaders to serve with generosity, faithfulness, and preparedness, as they receive their weekly and monthly tasks from the Connections Pastor, who ultimately leads the First Contact Team per the vision of
 the Executive Leadership Team of newhope church. The First Contact Coordinator will serve the church with teachability, faithfulness, a kind and generous heart, while equipping and inspiring volunteers to do the same. The First Contact Coordinator is a part
 of the Connections Team and will ultimately help the team serve and connect guests and members to God and the newhope vision, while discovering how their unique gifts fit into it all.


Goals and Expectations:

:: Develop strong relationships with First Contact Leaders, identifying their needs for effective ministry.

:: Model a godly lifestyle and high interpersonal skills for First Contact volunteers.

:: Will assist in the assimilation of newhopers into ministry.

:: Enthusiastically assist the Connections Pastor in regular strategic planning and goal processes, specifically related to the First Contact Team and Assimilation.

:: Schedule volunteers.

:: Be Present on Sundays to equip and participate with First Contact volunteers.

:: Assimilate and recruit new volunteers.

:: Assist in the planning and execution of First Contact trainings.

:: Be present at events where First Contact volunteers are needed (baptism, membership, conferences).

:: Assist in multi-site collaboration and equipping as requested by the Connections Pastor.

:: Is on time and willing to work hard.

:: Exhibits a positive attitude and a servant’s heart.

:: Participate in monthly All Staff meetings and weekly Connections meetings.

:: Coordinate and work well with other staff.

:: Willing to get the job done, and care greatly for the Connections ministries and its volunteers.




:: Able to work with multiple projects at the same time, with high quality and attention to detail.


:: Enjoy working in a team environment, supporting staff and volunteers.

:: Thrives working with logistics and sees the value in details for connecting people to ministry.


:: Needs to be a good manager of time.

:: Proficiency with computers and administrative software is a must.

:: Will be expected to be a good communicator in writing, on the phone, and in person.

:: Will demonstrate proactivity in recruiting and training volunteers.


Education: The ideal candidate will have an undergraduate degree in a subject that particularly equips them to guide volunteers with clarity and kindness, while developing administrative procedures
 and systems. Relevant experience will be considered commensurate with an education.


Experience/Skills: The successful candidate will have a proven track record of working in a setting committed to working with people, especially volunteers, while developing systems for scheduling
 and documents for organization. They will demonstrate a high degree of relational and administrative skills.
