Summary of Position:


The Campus Early Childhood Coordinator will oversee the preparation of weekend and midweek materials for the Early Childhood Ministries at the designated (Rockrimmon [RR] or Woodmen Heights [WH]) campus and provide administration for Birth through Kindergarten, as it relates to the weekend and midweek programs. He/she will assist in providing direction, training and support for the Early Childhood Volunteer Coordinators and Division Leaders; and support the Assistant Director of Early Childhood in implementing programs, curriculum and systems to equip, train and encourage all Ministry Partners (MPs) who serve in Early Childhood Programs. This full-time position reports to the Assistant Director of Early Childhood.


Specific Responsibilities: 

  • Support and Oversight
    • Assists in developing and implementing policies and procedures for Early Childhood Ministries
    • Schedules weekend MPs and Teachers for Early Childhood Ministries
    • Oversees the scheduling of midweek MPs completed by the Volunteer Coordinator
    • Oversees curriculum crates for Early Childhood so materials are ready for easy teaching
    • Writes/gathers curriculum and supplies for midweek special events; orders necessary supplies
    • Oversees weekend and midweek services/events to ensure quality at each service time for Early Childhood Ministries (arrives before each service/event [or assigns same] per Repeatable Routine for Set Up; coordinates Division Leader on duty with assigning responsibilities to the Repeatable Routine; ends service/event with Repeatable Routine for Take Down)
    • Rotates between campuses midweek (morning and evening), as necessary
    • Oversees midweek children’s registrations; creates midweek sign-in sheets, as necessary
    • Oversees Clean Team Leader for both campuses
    • Is a mandatory reporter and advocate for children; gives objective information to the Director of Children’s Ministries or Assistant Early Childhood Director, when needed
    • Maintains specified, yet flexible, weekly office hours
  • Ministry Partner Training/Staff Equipping and Shepherding
    • Assists the Assistant Director of Early Childhood in overseeing the interviewing, recruiting, screening, training and shepherding of Early Childhood MPs and Teachers in regards to curriculum, policies and procedures
    • Finds ways to creatively build up and pray for each MP and Teacher in Early Childhood Ministries
    • Assists in Volunteer Coordinator, Division Leader, MP and Greeter training as requested
    • Orchestrates quarterly midweek Teacher trainings and midweek Division Leader meetings
  • Administrative Duties
    • Sends weekly email to weekend Volunteer Coordinator, MPs and midweek Teachers with curriculum by end of day Tuesday
    • Attends monthly Children’s Ministries departmental meetings and weekly team meetings
    • Informs and assists the Assistant Director of Early Childhood in following up on all Early Childhood-aged children who have reported conversions in Early Childhood events
    • Works with facilities to ensure optimal function and use of Early Childhood areas; works with the Early Childhood team to regularly supply, organize and clean Early Childhood classrooms and Resource Rooms
    • Updates webpage in coordination with the Children’s Team
    • Maintains MP and staff records; arranges for background/reference checks, SMPs and Ministry Safe documentation
    • Works with the Children’s Ministries Team to plan and implement special church-wide events (VBS, Little Fingers, etc.)
    • Assists with the curriculum development and church-wide MP recruitment for both Christmas and Easter
    • Maintains both short- and long-term program goals and sequence requirements within the WVC scope
  • Teaching Responsibility – teaches large group on weekends and/or midweek
  • Other duties as requested 


Minimum Requirements:

  • Education/Experience
    • 3-5 years paid experience working in Children’s Ministries in a church setting, preferably with Early Childhood age groups
    • Experience working with children, and the ability to positively interact with staff, children, parents and MPs
    • Excellent organizational and administrative and time management skills
    • Detail-oriented and flexible with a team spirit
    • Good written and verbal communication skills
    • Computer skills with proficiency in Mac programs, Microsoft Windows, Word, Excel, Outlook, Arena and the Internet
    • A desire to work with children and see that they receive every opportunity to have a solid foundation and receive Jesus Christ as their personal Lord and Savior when they reach an age of accountability
    • A desire to work with adults who would be fulfilled by working with children, and see that they receive every opportunity to use their gifts in Children’s Ministries
    • An ongoing relationship with Jesus Christ, demonstrated through regular prayer, Bible study and worship attendance
    • A member of WVC who supports its vision and values, as well as contributes time and tithes
  • Physical Requirements
    • Ability to lift and carry 35 lbs.
    • Reliable transportation
