The Florida Conference of The United Methodist Church is seeking a
specialist in congregational vitality. The successful candidate will be responsible for the strategic direction and leadership of this aspect of ministry for the church in the newly formed Congregational Vitality department.
The successful candidate will work alongside other coaches, pastors and churches to re-ignite or spark incarnational transformation within the Conference as well as cultivating innovative models for starting new communities of faith. The gifts and talents
of this individual will be to create an environment that fosters new, creative and sustainable models for making disciples of Jesus Christ for the transformation of the world.
Key responsibilities for the Vitality Specialist will be to serve as “lead coach” by
providing support for the implementation of transformational processes and the variety of tools available upon request; supervise the regular monthly reporting for Missional Vital Signs and assist local churches in interpreting their Vital Signs as
well as assisting congregations and coaches with stalled transformational processes by evaluating and monitoring next steps.
The successful candidate must be a growing follower of Jesus Christ living in an accountable community with a strong track record of successful, fruitful ministry. Applicants must also possess the knowledge, skills and abilities to work effectively within
the committee governance structure of The United Methodist Church, including providing strategic communication and education to district offices, local churches, conference boards and agencies in the areas of congregational vitality.
Candidate qualifications include being an ordained clergy member with significant experience in transformation within The United Methodist Church or a lay member with significant lay leadership experience and membership in The United Methodist
Church. A Bachelor’s degree is required - Masters degree is preferred. Qualified candidates will possess the cultural fluency to successfully communicate with ethnic congregations and are expected to have a passion for congregational transformation as well
as in-depth knowledge of United Methodist theology and polity.
