Job Description:

The Florida Conference of The United Methodist Church is seeking a New Church Development (NCD) specialist. This position will be responsible for the strategic direction and leadership of this aspect of ministry for the church and will work together with a Congregational Vitality specialist in the newly formed Congregational Vitality department. 


The NCD Specialist will work with both internal and external constituencies to utilize new, creative and sustainable models for locating and starting new churches and missions.


The successful candidate must be a growing follower of Jesus Christ living in an accountable community with a strong track record of successful, fruitful ministry.  Candidates must also possess the knowledge, skills and abilities to work effectively within the committee governance structure of The United Methodist Church, including providing strategic communication and education to district offices, local churches, conference boards and agencies in the areas of new church development.


Candidate qualifications include being an ordained clergy member with significant experience in developing new faith communities within The United Methodist Church. A Bachelor’s degree is required  - Masters degree is preferred. Qualified candidates must possess the cultural fluency to successfully communicate with ethnic congregations and are expected to have a passion for new church development as well as in-depth knowledge of United Methodist theology and polity.
