Christ Community Church of Plainfield is a growing, vibrant, and contemporary Christian Reformed congregation located in a southwest suburb of Chicago. Our church is strategically located close to three large high schools and even more middle schools, and we believe that we have the potential for significant ministry to the middle and high school students in our church and community.

We are seeking an energetic, relational leader who has a deep passion for students to connect with God and each other through intentional discipleship—someone who has a heart to develop the leaders, about 25 middle school students, and about 20 high school students within our church’s existing student ministry and extend that ministry to the surrounding area. Purpose: To lead and develop Christ Community Church’s student ministries through discipleship, mentoring, teaching, outreach, and coordination.

Appointment Terms: This is a full time, salaried position, fulfilling the duties and responsibilities identified below. The appointment of this position is subject to the approval of the Full Council of Christ Community Church.

Duties and Responsibilities:

> Basic Responsibilities

o Disciple, equip and train adult and middle and high school student leaders
o Develop a network of discipleship through small group, mentoring and peer-to-peer relationships as well as personally relating with and discipling of students
o Develop long-term strategies for the continued development of the Student Ministry
o Take primary responsibility for planning of large-group gatherings and teaching within the Student Ministry
o Coordinate activities of the Student Ministry in collaboration with adult and student leaders, aligning spiritual gifts with responsibilities
o Develop and implement outreach strategy to draw and disciple students from the community
o Serve as Student Ministries liaison to the Ministry Council, provide budgetary guidance to the ministry and regularly report expenses in relation to budget
o Occasional preaching, depending on candidate’s gifts
o Other duties as assigned

o Investment in equipping and discipling adult and student leaders
o Planning and leading large group worship and activities, including social and service events
o Discipleship, mentoring and networking with students, both in small groups and one-on-one
o Outreach to local high schools and to the community with students from the church
o Administration - contacts, meetings, budget oversight, liaison to Council, personal development


> Education and Experience
o Bachelor’s degree required; graduate degree preferred
o Minimum 2 years experience in student ministry preferred
o Previous success in developing leadership teams

o Exceptional relational skills with teens; approachable, flexible, accepting, caring
o Comfortable communicating in large group and one-on-one settings
o Confident, yet teachable and receptive

o Ability to preach a significant plus
