Alpharetta First United Methodist Church is seeking a full-time Director of Children’s Ministry. AFUMC is a large suburban church (5,000 members) located on Main Street in Alpharetta, GA. We are intentional about transformation and our mission is to make a real difference in the lives of people through the Good news of Jesus Christ. Our Children’s Ministry serves a large demographic of children, drawing from communities in a 20 mile radius.


The Director provides oversight and leadership for multiple children’s ministry experiences on Sundays, Wednesdays, and special occasions as needed, including multi-media worship and Sunday School for children from preschool to 5th grade. He/she works with and resources a large number of volunteers and plans ministry alongside a Children’s Council. The role of the Director is to encourage, resource, teach, disciple and mentor leaders as well as children. The Director supervises the work of the Director of Nurseries, the Preschool Director, and an Associate Children’s Director.


The successful candidate will be creative and energetic and well-versed in both Wesleyan theology and current trends in materials and resources to disciple children. We are seeking someone who is highly relational, organized, theologically grounded and deeply committed to the ministry of making disciples of Jesus Christ. The successful candidate will have a minimum of 5 years’ experience in Children’s Ministry (paid or unpaid), a bachelor’s degree and a strong relationship with Jesus Christ.
