Director of Worship and Music Ministries

The Director of Worship and Music Ministries shall give leadership, direction and coordination to the worship and music ministries of the church.

He should be an individual of established Biblical Character and Spiritual Maturity.
(1 Timothy 3:1-7; 2 Timothy 2:19-26; and Titus 1:6-9).

He must be in full agreement with the Evangelical Free Church Statement of Faith.

He must be committed to the vision, values, and to the philosophy of ministry and worship of the Evangelical Free Church of Hastings.

He should sense the call of God to this ministry and have spiritual gifts, training and experience consistent with the position responsibilities.

He should have a passion for worship and a vision for enhancing the worship experience of the local church.

A Bachelor's degree in Music with a preferred emphasis on various aspects of music ministry pertinent to the local church. He must have appropriate experience in leading worship in a church environment and/or music education.

He should have an understanding of, sensitivity to, and the ability to work with diverse worship styles, with a passion and gifting for leading worship for young adults.

He should have appropriate people skills with the ability to relate, communicate effectively, and work in a team environment.

He should possess appropriate administrative skills, particularly that of prioritizing in planning, organizing, recruiting and delegating.

Plan, coordinate, lead or give direction to all adult worship services and other special worship events according to themes agreed upon by the Senior Pastor or alternate preaching pastor. This will include helping to develop worship for a ministry designed for young adults.

Develop and give leadership to the worship teams and instrumentalists for all services including weekly rehearsals.

Schedule and coordinate special music for all worship services and give direction to other musical groups of the church e.g. adult choir, children's choirs, youth choir, and special ensembles.

Serve as a resource for worship and music to other ministries of the church.

Oversee the recruitment, training and job performance of sound, visual, and light technicians.

Oversee and encourage the development of the arts as they relate to worship (drama, banner, video production, etc.).

He shall be a member of the Music committee of the church.

He shall be responsible for the careful preparation of the budget for all music matters and shall make recommendations for related expenditures.

Coordinate with appropriate persons as to the availability and maintenance of all equipment used for worship and music.

Other ministry functions as assigned or needed.

He has an active working relationship with the Senior Pastor. He is responsible administratively to the Senior Pastor. He will be a part of the ministry team of the church.

The Director of Worship and Music Ministries is primarily responsible to the Elder Board for his assigned areas of ministry.

The Director of Worship and Music Ministries is ultimately responsible to the congregation. He will provide an annual report of his ministry activities at the congregational annual meeting.

He will be encouraged to take two days off a week when possible, excluding Sundays.

He will be expected to maintain regular office hours; extra hours including some evenings may be necessary.

Attendance at conferences and denominational activities is encouraged for personal spiritual enrichment and professional growth.
