Bio of Clay United Methodist Church and Firehouse Youth Ministries

Clay United Methodist Church (Clay Church) is committed to walking with more people to a transforming relationship with Jesus Christ. In order to meet the needs of an expanding congregation, Clay Church purchased land nearby and built a facility to support our Adult and Children’s ministries. Our existing building (~35,000 sq ft) is in the process of being transforming into a youth facility called Firehouse Youth Ministries. This facility has a worship space that will hold 400 youth, six large classrooms for small groups, a full size kitchen attached to a large fellowship hall and a gym. It is on 7 acres of land and is ½ mile from the new facility. For more information on Clay Church, visit our web site at www.claychurch.com.

Clay Church’s staff is team based. We have a strategic focus to minister to families and to serve our community. We started our second site on Nov 4th 2007 and are striving to be one ministry on two campuses The youth minister role will be part of a Youth Ministry staff team consisting of Sara Bartlett-Farren, Doug Fecher, and a part time administrative assistant (see their bios at the www.firehouseinfo.com).

We currently have around 750 in worship and about 120 youth who are active in discipleship and worship in our Firehouse Ministry. We have strong support from our congregation for youth ministry and have many parents who participate in ministry with us. We feel that we at an exciting time in our youth ministry and are looking for the right person to work with us in allowing God’s vision to permeate our congregation and our neighborhoods.

Firehouse Youth Ministries Mission

Youth ministries at Clay Church are committed to helping students develop into invested Christians: people who know who they are and why they matter, what they believe & why they believe it, and how they can change the world.

Firehouse Youth Ministry Vision

Youth ministries at Clay Church will be a place for students to be heard, loved, encouraged, challenged & transformed by God’s truth into Independent Christians.

Firehouse Youth Ministry Values

God first. Jesus said that the greatest commandment is to “love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind,” (Matt 22:36) and so we seek to put God first in our lives.

Love everyone. Jesus said that the second commandment was to “love each other as I have loved you” (John 15:12) and so we seek to love others—family, friends, strangers, and enemies alike—with the unconditional, grace-full love of Jesus Christ.

Live truth. We believe that the foundation for our thoughts, actions, and our lives is God’s truth as revealed in the Holy Scripture. We also believe in speaking the truth in love to each other.

Create community. We seek to create an open community where each person feels accepted, loved, and cherished as the unique person God created them to be.

Reach out. We strive to reach students where they are at.

Act faithfully. We believe that “faith without works is dead,” (James 2:26) and therefore we seek to live out our faith in every area of our lives: church, home, school, work, relationships, missions/service, fun.
