Job Description:
Gardendale- Mt. Vernon United Methodist is searching for a Director of Worship Ministries. Gardendale-Mt. Vernon, located just north of Birmingham, Alabama, is a growing church with 750 in three different styles of Sunday morning worship services. The Director of Worship supervises all the worship/music ministries and gives direct leadership in the 8:30 AM Sonrise Service (which is an informal-blended service that is lead by an ensemble) and the 11:00 AM Service (a more traditional service with a choir). The person also gives leadership in the Evening Grow Service, which is a worship-teaching service. The church has several musical groups: Chancel Choir, Sonrise Celebration Ensemble, Crossfire Band, Men’s Ensemble, Ladies Ensemble, Handbell Choir, Youth Choir; Children’s Worship Team, Children’s Choir. A love for Jesus Christ and a sense of calling to worship ministries is vital. Experience leading a growing worship/music ministry is required, along with a Baccalaureate Degree. This person also presently relates to the Sound/Media Ministries and the Communications Ministries of the Church. Candidate should also possess a capacity for visionary team building and equipping for the sake of effective ministry.
