Job Description:

The Highway Community is a non-denominational church located in the heart of the Silicon Valley. It is known best for being missional focused, community-orientated, and multi-generational. It is also a multi-site church, owns and operates Red Rock Coffee shop (, Red Rock Recording Company (, and Highway Media (

The Director of Family Ministries, at The Highway Community will be responsible for all aspects of a dynamic ministry for children—birth through 5th Grade—and their parents. This will include connecting and equipping parents, volunteers and the broader church community to participate in developing our children spiritually and emotionally.

Our hope is  that this person would partner with parents to develop spiritually mature kids who know and love the Lord Jesus and actively extend His Kingdom.

Responsibilities include: Casting, explaining, and embodying the family ministry vision; recruit and equip teachers and helpers; develop connection points for families in community; lead a family ministry leadership team; refer family counseling to the pastoral staff when necessary; develop an effective connections process for families; develop and oversee a special needs ministry appropriate for the ministry context; support family missional opportunities and ongoing events and special events that overlap with families (e.g., VBS, Fallapalooza, the midweek community experience, and the Christmas Advent service); coordinate setup and teardown teams within their ministry area; manage safety and security efforts; oversee meal registry for parents of newborns or families in crisis; manage a budget.


Qualities and Gift Mix: This position will be best served by a person mature in their relationship with Jesus Christ with experience that demonstrates leadership, communication and administrative skills. To fulfill the role, this person must be passionate and perceptive about families and kids and able to adapt their approach to maintain effectiveness. Self-motivation, strong interpersonal skills and the ability to build enthusiasm and confidence, as well as recruiting volunteers are a must.
