Job Description:


The Senior Pastor will be responsible for overall spiritual development and care of the church family demonstrating skill in communicating Biblical truth, spiritual maturity, passion for the ministry, leadership capabilities and the ability to communicate a vision for Liberty Baptist Church.



  • Must meet the qualifications for a pastor as provided in Scripture
  • Demonstrate a vibrant, growing relationship with God that is evidenced in all areas of his life, including spiritual disciplines and a healthy family life
  • Be in thorough agreement with Liberty’s doctrinal statement, purpose, and philosophy of ministry, as explained during the interview process
  • Have a thorough knowledge of the Bible and show clear evidence of an ability to preach, teach and give counsel from a biblical perspective
  • Possess an evident ability to communicate practical biblical applications to life
  • Strong biblical thinking skills with a Bachelors degree required and Masters or M. Div. degree preferred
  • Pastoral experience required, 5+ years preferred
  • Demonstrate a clear and passionate call to ministry  and be ordained
  • Demonstrate a commitment to spiritual reproduction by investing himself personally in the lives of non-Christians, as well as less mature believers, and by allowing other mature believers to invest in his life
  • Be proactively committed to building godly relationships of grace, trust, and teamwork among the staff and leaders as a model to our entire church family
  • Demonstrate a spirit of deference, service, gratitude, humility and warmth in both ministry and personal life
  • Possess a respect for authority as well as an attitude of servant leadership
  • Evidence of proven interpersonal skills as a team leader and player
  • Willingness to strive for excellence and attention to detail
  • Organized  with the ability to recruit and disciple others
  • Strong work ethic, moral integrity and dependable

  • Provide spiritual oversight and care for the church family, helping believers to develop and use their spiritual gifts, through visitation, counseling, teaching and preaching of God’s Word, discipleship, weddings and funerals
  • Lead, manage and develop the pastoral and office staff through weekly meetings, individual coaching sessions, and accountability moments
  • Demonstrate godly leadership and wisdom in planning worship services, working with church committees, volunteers, and team development
  • Plan and develop training events and /or retreats for the church leadership and pastoral staff
  • Represent the church family at pastoral and community events
  • Administer church policies
  • Provide consistent financial administration in cooperation with the board and the church treasurer
  • Prepare a yearly written report for the trustee board as well as the congregation regarding finances,  ministry related activities and direction
