Position Overview
Under the general supervision of the Technical Director, the Vertex Technical Specialist oversees all multi-media requirements for the New Life Community Church Youth Center (The Vertex). Multi-media include all lighting; video recording and projection; and sound for the Student Ministries Department and provides back-up support for other church departments. The Vertex Technical Specialist works closely with Student Ministries staff to develop events that present the Gospel in a culturally relevant way. The Vertex Technical Specialist recruits, trains, schedules, and empowers volunteers and is responsible for the operation, maintenance and repair of all multi-media equipment assigned to The Vertex.

Essential Job Functions
Recruit, train, schedule, encourage and pray for volunteers that serve in multi-media roles at the Vertex. Oversee the maintenance, and operation of multi-media equipment. Provide multi-media support for Vertex events. Provide multi-media support for contracted outside events that use church facilities. Participate in weekly planning team meetings and design team meetings as required. Assist the Technical Director in development and administration of the Technical Ministries budget. Maintain cutting-edge multi-media knowledge through the Internet, periodicals, books, recorded materials, and by attending approved conferences, classes and seminars. Assume the duties of the Technical Director in his absence.

Minimum 2 years paid experience as a technical director or assistant technical director in a church setting.
A combination of formal training and experience that demonstrates the ability to perform basic job requirements. (College or technical institute training preferred).
The ability to demonstrate a high level of competence in the operation of multi-media equipment.
Strong interpersonal and communications skills.
Strong organizational and administrative skills
An awareness of youth culture as it relates to multi-media

Other skills/Abilities
A creative mind and theatrical eye is desired.
Experience working in a variety of live venues is desired.
Audio studio experience is desired.

Environmental Conditions and Physical Activity requirements
This is an indoor job 90 percent of the time. There is limited exposure to dust or other environmental contaminants. This job requires standing for up to 2 hours at a time. This job requires lifting of 50 pounds on level ground. The ability to climb ladders and a lack of the fear of heights is required.
