Job Description:

The primary objective of the ministry is to help children discover the love of God, to teach the Bible as the word of God, to discover a personal relationship with Jesus Christ as Savior and Lord, and to become growing disciples. This objective should be accomplished through both the children’s programs of the church and through the intentional equipping of parents to accomplish these same goals at home.


Christ Church ( is a conservative United Methodist congregation of over 6,000 members in the heart of Memphis, TN. We are seeking an experienced Director to lead our church into the next chapter of ministry for children from birth through 6th grade. A successful candidate will meet many (if not all) of the following qualities.

I can enlist, organize, equip and encouraging large numbers of church members who volunteer to work in the many diverse areas of the Children’s Ministry. I have excellent interpersonal skills, including being a good listener and being open to ideas for improving the ministry. I can communicate the needs of the Children’s Ministry to all areas of the church.

Proven Record in a Large Church Setting

I have substantial experience in a very large, multiple-staff church environment. I can plan and execute Sunday School, Worship Programs, Retreats, Vacation Bible School, and other programs which transform the lives of our children while teaching them to serve others. I can lead, supervise and encourage Children’s Ministry staff (current staff of 4 core members plus nursery staff).
