Job Description:

We are seeking a full-time Student Ministry Pastor who will be responsible for providing vision, oversight and supervision for Student Ministries at Grace.  In addition, this person will be responsible for overseeing all aspects of the Middle School Ministry of Grace Church. This person will build relationships with students in the church, in the community; and between the Middle School Ministry and the church at large.  They will also provide a framework for communication and teamwork among ministry participants (directors, volunteers, parents and youth).


Anticipated Time Commitments:

  • Doing ministry/preparing for ministry – 45-55 hours per week
  • Meetings/training – Approximately 4 hours per month
  • Additional time as needed


  • Actively participate and oversee the operation of the Student Ministries, including curriculum development, staffing and resource availability
  • Share the vision of the Middle School Ministry with the church regularly
  • Join a Youth Ministry Network, such as Blue Valley Youthfront Group
  • Train and build relationships with ministry volunteers
  • Represent the Middle School Ministry in weekly staff and pastoral meetings
  • Plan and hold yearly retreats and camps for Middle School Students
  • Be available if required to assist in teaching church wide
  • Ensure that communication to students, volunteers and parents is occurring and effective
  • Develop and track annual Ministry Plan and Budget for the Middle School Ministry and provide oversight in this area for the High School Ministry
  • Enthusiastically draw Middle School attendees to Jesus Christ
  • Development and implementation of a comprehensive vision and direction for a vibrant and growing ministry to students at Grace
  • Recruit, train, evaluate, and recognize all paid and volunteer Middle School Ministry Team members
  • Coordination with the Children’s Ministry Pastor to ensure seamless transition of Elementary School attendees to Middle School Ministry and from Middle School Ministry to High School Ministry
  • Coordinate with the High School Ministry Pastor and oversee all classes and events in Student Ministries
  • Provide vision, oversight and supervision for Student Ministries at Grace

Qualifications and Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree and six years relevant experience
  • A passion for reaching youth in the church and the community
  • Excellent planning and relationship skills

  • Proficient in the use of Microsoft Office applications and other standard office software
  • Able to effectively lead leaders
  • Aptitude for teaching, ministry and caring for children and families
  • Ability to review, plan and close tasks/projects

  • Able to develop and follow processes and procedures
  • Effective at building relationships with volunteers, parents and leaders
  • Exhibit good judgment and reason when solving problems and making decisions

  • Proficient at taking initiative to freely share knowledge and encourage others to do the same
  • Anticipate needs by understanding the expectations, previous history and potential outcomes

  • Continue to develop the Middle School Ministry to reach youth with the gospel of Christ and to partner with, support and resource parents to be the primary developers of spiritual life in their youth.
