Media Ministries Director

Christ United Methodist Church is a church located in the heart of Memphis Tennessee. Our mission is to glorify God as we make, mature, and mobilize disciples of Jesus Christ. Christ Church is seeking a Director of Media Ministries to oversee all Media Operations at CUMC. This qualified person will oversee, build, and grow our technical ministry in creative ways. We are looking for an individual of mature faith who is able to lead a technical team, and as a strong leader will nurture, care and encourage the team. The position will provide leadership for the technology needs of the church.
This is a full-time position with a competitive salary and generous benefits package.

Primary Responsibilities

• Administration and budgetary oversight of the media ministry.
• Facilitating weekend services.
• Manage and troubleshoot live audio, video & lighting
• Primary sound engineer. Must be able to operate digital console. (Yamaha DM 2000)
• Recruit and oversee training of staff, interns, and volunteers for sound, lights, screens, and recordings.
• Organize and maintain a schedule of staff, interns, and volunteers to operate sound, screens, lights, and recordings for all services.
• Oversee the technical aspects of all worship services (such as setting sound and light cues, media presentations, stage set-up, sound checks,).
• Facilitating special events, projects and other ministry needs.
• Oversee the church’s video needs, such as preparing video clips for worship services, simulcasting sermons, and creating digital presentations for ministry use.
• Assist with additional multimedia related ministries (such as podcasts and audio sermons).
• Provide or oversee maintenance of all sound, video and lighting equipment.
• Upgrading equipment as needed and as budget allows.
• Ensure the provision of sound needs, technical assistance, stage set up, video broadcast, multimedia presentations, and recordings, as required for other services, including wedding, funerals, baptisms, concerts, and all special events.
• Serve as a member of the Worship and Music Committees, working closely with the Chair, other Worship and Music staff members, and the Senior Minister.
• Serve as a member of the ministry staff engaged in the overall vision and development of the church.
• Organize and direct staff to troubleshoot and provide tech support, upgrade and provide networking needs for all church computers.


• Demonstrate a love for Christ and a desire to continue a deep personal walk with Him.
• Provide spiritual leadership to the technical team in a nurturing environment.
• Able to set a compelling, and creative vision based on our purposes as a church, and apply it to the specific ministry areas of responsibility.
• Ability to communicate effectively, particularly within a volunteer team.
• Exhibited strengths in the areas of teamwork, flexibility and creativity.
• Provide strong organizational leadership for the technical team.
• 3-5 years of work experience (or equivalent) as a Media Directors in a church with a weekend attendance of 2000 or larger.
• At least 3 years supervisory experience.
• Fluent in the operation of digital sound consoles for large ensemble settings.
• Experience with video, pre and post production. short films, music videos, interviews, short documentaries and thematic /subject-oriented narrative video for Sunday morning worship services.
