Summary of Position:


The Pastor/Director of Impact Ministries oversees all components of the Global and Community Impact Ministries of Woodmen Valley Chapel (WVC). He/she develops and implements church policy concerning missions and supervises staff and Ministry Partners. This full-time position reports to the Executive Pastor.


Duties and Responsibilities:


A. Vision

  1. Supports the vision of WVC (Exploring, Experiencing and Expressing God’s grace)
  2. Leads in the development and implementation of WVC’s mission’s strategies and Six Core Initiatives
  3. Engages and equips the congregation in WVC mission’s activities
  4. Stays abreast of and evaluates mission trends, stimulating the overall missions approach and vision
  5. Continually raises the value of missions within the church to increase financial and prayer commitment
  6. Guides the long range planning of WVC’s missions program

B. Global Impact

  1. Oversees the review and evaluation of Impact Partners’ project execution and partnership objectives
  2. Provides oversight, communication and pastoral care for church supported missionaries, engaging in field visits as necessary
  3. Identifies, develops, and counsels potential missionaries
  4. Provides oversight of Global Impact activities including mission trips
  5. Oversees the incorporation of the Six Core Initiatives in Global Impact Ministries

C. Community Impact

  1. Ensures and engages in active communication with all Community Impact activities and the church
  2. Oversees ACTS, Access Ministries, Military Outreach, Prison Ministry, and Benevolence activities
  3. Engages the congregation in supporting Community Impact initiatives

D. General Management Responsibilities

  1. Manages the Global and Community Impact Ministries staff
  2. Directs the Impact Ministries Advisory Team (IMAT)
  3. Oversees the creation and execution of all budgets and financial reports
  4. Facilitates grants to organizations, and Barnabas Fund grants by Elders
  5. Develops prayer support for missionaries, people groups and nations

E. Pastoral Duties

  1. Serves on Executive Council and Advisory Team
  2. Institutes and leads teaching opportunities relevant to missions
  3. Work schedule includes standard pastoral work week and weekends
  4. Participates in Pastor on Call (POC) rotation
  5. Supports special events, weddings, funerals, hospital visits as appropriate to role

F. Other duties as requested



Minimum Requirements:


A. Education/Experience

  1. Bachelors degree; seminary preferred
  2. Proven leadership (pastoral level) expertise in missions, preferably in a large church/ministry setting
  3. Significant missions experience both domestically and internationally
  4. Ability to work with a diverse group of professionals in a Christian environment
  5. A heart for missions and a vision for WVC missions’ future
  6. Effective verbal and written communication skills
  7. Ability to recruit, train, and mobilize volunteers
  8. Demonstrates an ongoing relationship with Jesus Christ through regular prayer, Bible study and worship attendance
  9. Observable evidence that this individual has a healthy family life. If married, his/her spouse must be a believer, supportive of his/her ministry and involved in the church. If single, this individual will display and uphold high moral biblical standards in his/her interpersonal relationships.
  10. A member of WVC who supports the vision and values of WVC and the Center for Strategic Ministry (CSM)


B. Physical/Other Requirements

  1. Ability to lift and carry up to 50 lbs. (equipment/office supplies/baggage)
  2. Ability to travel internationally, carry baggage and walk through airports and other terminals
