Minister to Children and Families

MINISTER OF CHILDREN AND FAMILIES

Middletown Christian Church is also looking for a full-time Minister of Children and Families who will lead MCC to accomplish the mission of the children’s ministry to grow children in Christ and build homes of faith.  The position allows for development and implementation of all aspects of the children’s ministry programming, which serves children from birth to fifth grade at MCC, a mainline protestant congregation of over 1,000 members.

The Minister of Children and Families has these primary areas of responsibility:

-          provide leadership to develop and implement a spiritual and cohesive ministry for children and families

-          equip families, leaders, and volunteers, working to encourage parents to be spiritual leaders in their homes

-          recruit and nurture children’s ministry volunteers to carry out the mission of the children’s ministry 

-          develop relationships with all children to grow them in Christ

-          develop relationships with children’s families to provide spiritual guidance in building homes of faith

The Minister of Children and Families must have

-          a passion for the faith development of children and families that has been demonstrated through work experience and educational background 

-          a minimum of three years of experience in leading a children’s ministry program, preferably in a large church

-          a graduate degree in a field related to children’s ministry (preferable but a bachelor’s degree is acceptable)

-          theological continuity with the beliefs and practices of the Christian Church (Disciples of Christ)
