Student Ministries Associate Director

Centreville Baptist Church is looking for an Associate Student Ministry Director to work alongside our Next Generations Pastor in leading our XLM Student Ministries.  This is a full-time position.

We are a church of 1200+ regular attendees.  Our church is located in a suburb of Washington, DC in Northern Virginia.  We place a high value on Scripture as it is our authority on beliefs, faith and practice.  We also place a high value on being relevant to culture and meeting people where they are.  The DC area is very diverse.  Our church reflects that diversity.

Our student ministry is made up of students from more than 25 different schools in the area.  Our ministry seeks to meet students where they are, grow them in their faith and equip them to serve one another and the community around them.  We have 135-160 students regularly attending each week.  And our ministry consists of about 175 total middle school and high school students.  You can learn more about our student ministry at our facebook page:  www.facebook.com/xlmstudents

ABOUT THE POSITION

The person in this position would work with the Next Generations Pastor to further the vision for XLM and work with the student ministry team to provide direct leadership to the ministry.  

Required Qualifications:

All applicants must...

-have a growing relationship with Christ.

-have a love for students. 

-have a love for Scripture and be able to communicate the truths of God's word clearly and effectively.

-have a heart for reaching lost students with the gospel.

-possess experience in student ministry, preferably in a church with an average attendance of 1,000+

-be able to communicate effectively with parents.

-be an effective teacher/speaker.

-be a constant learner and always seeking to grow as a leader

-be an avid user social media and use it regularly as a part of their lifestyle

-be teachable and able to work in a team environment.

-be a leader and a self-starter, able to plan and execute events and programs with little oversight.

-be excellent at recruiting and building up leaders within the ministry (both students and adult volunteers)

-be able to make decisions in a fast-paced environment that is always changing.

-be organized and have administrative skills

-be someone who has an engaging personality and would excell upfront leading a ministry.

-be tech savvy

-be able to minister to a diverse group of people

-have at least a bachelors degree

Desired Qualifications:

We prefer that applicants...

-have a seminary degree (or are pursuing a degree)

-have skills in graphic design

-have skills in video production

Responsibilities:

This person will be involved in everything the student ministry does including...

-planning the Sunday morning student ministry experiences

-teaching in large group settings often

-developing curriculum and/or resourcing leaders with curriculum for small groups and middle school ministry

-facilitating small groups

-planning and executing retreats, camps and mission trips.

-recruiting and developing small group leaders

-planning and executing events

-working with parents

-communicating to parents about the ministry

-keeping social media portals active and continually engaging students and families with them.

-discipling students

-overseeing ministry teams within the student ministry

-working with interns during the summer

-other duties as assigned

This person will also be involved with other ministries as the student ministry is part of the larger body.  These include attending certain staff meetings and helping to plan, and participate in churchwide events.
