Westside Baptist Church (WBC), a member of the Southern Baptist Convention, is a predominately African American Baptist Church located in Lewisville, Texas. Lewisville is centrally located within Denton County approximately 20 miles North of the Dallas Metropolitan area. WBC, a Christian based Church is made up of more than 1,000 families and 2,500 individual members, and is serviced by more than 25 unique ministries. A sampling of these ministries which focus on eternal salvation through Jesus Christ include Discipleship Training for Adults (Men and Women), Young Adults (18-35), Music Ministries for all ages, Children and Youth Ministries (such as Awana), Evangelism and Outreach, and various Bible Study opportunities. WBC has had the privilege of more than 20 years of consistent and strong Pastoral Leadership fully committed to the motto of “Where Making Gods Word Plain is Part of His Plan.”  



Westside Baptist Church currently has an opportunity for an Assistant Pastor.  This role will work closely with our Senior Pastor, Deacon Council and other staff members to promote and grow the entire ministry plan of Westside Baptist Church. 


The responsibilities for this role are as follows:

  • Plan and administer the Christian Education Program including but not limited to Sunday Morning Bible Study, Wednesday Night Bible Study, Sweet Hour of Prayer, Discipleship Classes, etc.
  • Play an integral role in the selection and implementation of curriculum
  • Assist in the selection and training of teachers
  • Assist and support the other Ministers and Ministries
  • Oversee all Education and Adult Ministries
  • Teach and Preach as assigned
  • Research materials for the Senior Pastor
  • Serve as an effective staff liaison to assigned Ministry teams and/or Standing Committees
  • Maintain a vital and growing personal walk with the Lord through committed Bible study, prayer and meditation
  • In absence of Pastor, receives ministerial phone calls, lead staff meetings, oversee and lead worship service and other ministerial duties
  • Pray with church members and guests who express difficulties in their lives
  • Maintains personal priorities with home and family as the spiritual leader
  • Develops and exercises personal Evangelism within and outside the church
  • Consistently contributes to the works of ministries of WBC by faithfully giving to the church through financial offerings


The requirements for this role are as follows:

  • Able to profess (through testimony) your personal salvation through Jesus Christ
  • Seminary Degree, preferred
  • 3+ years in Church Leadership (Ministry Lead), Assistant Pastor/Minister of Education preferred
  • Experience in Christian Education/Discipleship, Evangelism, Prayer Ministry or Preaching, Required
  • Strong Communication Skills, Written and Verbal
  • Problem-Solving skills
  • Upholds the teaching of 1 Timothy 3: 1-13
