Children’s Ministry Coordinator (Exempt)


Reporting Relationship:

Your immediate supervisor is the Discipleship Director of PEACE church

Reports to Staff Parish Relations Team as requested


Overview of Major Responsibilities:

Envision, organize and implement a quality children’s ministry program from nursery through 6th grade for PEACE church. This includes leading, staffing, directing, and organizing a growing vital children’s ministry which transforms kids into fully submitted followers of Christ.


Specific Responsibilities:



            Promote the mission of the church through children’s ministry

            Develop, implement and evaluate ministry goals related to the children’s ministry (every 6 months)

Attend continuing education events related to this position (at least 1 per year)

Develop and maintain a personal growth plan



            Multiply PEACE’s children’s ministry by regularly recruiting, training and supervising servant leadership

            Lead through a team-based ministry approach

            Involve as many talented, gifted persons as possible in all areas of the children’s ministry

            Provide spiritual and skill development for all children’s ministry teams



Oversee all teams related to children’s ministry including nursery through 6th Grade

Oversee all children’s midweek and special events including but not limited to NOTT Nites, Club 56, Kid’s Club,

and all child-care

Act as a liaison to Vacation Bible School

Serve as a member of the safe Sanctuaries team

Ensure that mission and outreach are a part of the DNA of children’s ministry discipleship



            Select and order curriculum

Oversee all communications including: children’s section of church webpage, children’s articles for church

newsletter, Sunday school newsletter, parent/guardian contacts, children’s library and bulletin board



Possess a strong faith in Christ and a clear calling to Children’s ministry

Be a member that models standards and expectations of leadership within PEACE church including a personal devotional life, worship attendance, tithing, serving/witnessing, small group participation, and a dedication to personal development and a healthy lifestyle



Have a deep sense of integrity, a positive attitude, and be spiritually mature and growing

Demonstrate leadership and teaching ability and express strong relational skills

Have ability to develop teams and apprentice leaders

Have an excellent knowledge of children’s spiritual development and innovative children’s ministry

Coordinate Children’s discipleship to coincide with youth and adult discipleship

Be creative, innovative and a team player


Education and Experience:

            Bachelor’s degree (in children’s ministry or related field preferable)

            3+ years experience in leading a growing vital children’s ministry



Attend weekly PEACE staff meeting

Attend weekly Program Development meeting

Attend other meetings connected to children’s ministry as needed

Attend other staff functions such as retreats, worship, etc. as requested


Understandings of the Job:

The job description is subject to review and change especially as the program grows

Light clerical and administrative support is available

This position is considered probationary for 90 days after which the position may be terminated by either party upon provided a thirty day notice in writing of the desire to terminate services
