The Bridge Church (TBC) is an innovative, fast-paced, growing, non-denominational church. In four short years since the courageous merger of a predominately black church with a predominately white church, which formed TBC, it has grown from 400 members to over 900 members. Job Summary

Responsible for leading and developing a church-wide music program that will enrich worship and promote community outreach; provide music education for the various fine arts ministry areas; and assist leadership with the development and enhancement of worship planning.  This full time position is an integral part of the TBC staff and charged with helping with the continued growth of the ministry.


Minimum Qualifications:


  • Bachelors degree in music, music performance, music theory, music production or other music majors
  • Five (5) years of music ministry experience
  • Two (2) years of leadership experience
  • Exceptional music skills, with the ability to play the piano and other instruments
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Sensitivity to diverse populations


Preferred Qualifications:


  • Eight (8) to ten (10) years of music ministry experience
  • Four (4) years of leadership experience


Knowledge, Skills and Abilities (KSA’s):


  • Technical skills – ability to master music skills, read music, direct music, choral and vocal skills, and incorporate other art forms as needed
  • Pastoral skills – enjoys leading others in serving the Lord, with the ability to encourage others to work together for the body’s sake, with a motivation to unite the ministry, feeling strongly about the spiritual health of the ministry
  • Communication – able to clearly and succinctly convey written and verbal communication, can get messages across that have the desired effect
  • Confidentiality – can be trusted to maintain confidential information
  • Initiative – self starter and ability to self-motivate
  • Time Management – uses time effectively and efficiently; values time; concentrates efforts on the more important priorities; gets more done in less time than other; can attend to a broad range of activities
  • Interpersonal Savvy – relates well to all kinds of people, the Pastor, co-workers, members and outside the organization, uses diplomacy and tact; builds appropriate rapport




  • Provide development of the ministry to include providing a broad spectrum of music styles
  • Establish goals and long term objectives that provide overall consistency and ensures that each music experience meets with highest standards of respect and compliance with leadership expectations
  • Provide music research and talent recruitment to include researching, selecting, preparing and rehearsing music for worship services and special celebrations/occasions
  • Solicit and incorporate the musical talents (vocal, instrumental, educational) of various individuals to broaden the spectrum of musical abilities within and without the church
  • Enlist, train and coordinate leadership for all musical and creative arts areas of the church
  • Encourage diversity of technique, style and influence through music ministry
  • Coordinate music outreach events
  • Provide musical guidance and leadership to ensure unity and musical structure to each service and/or event
  • Supervise the maintenance of the music library, maintaining a high standard of organization
  • Administer the finances of the music department to include budgetary goals
  • Prepare to develop and maintain all aspects of the radio and television broadcast ministry
    • Performs other duties as assigned.
