Job Description:
Worship Leader

Trinity Fellowship Church is seeking a God-drenched, God-consumed, and God-thirsty worship leader. We hope to find a talented musician and vocalist with a heart for God, and a heart/giftedness to lead us into His presence and exalt Him. The idea person is not a song leader, but someone who will lead us into sincere, passionate worship. Though we are seeking strong vocal and musical abilities, we believe the heart is the most important component.

We prefer the worship leader to lead by guitar. Our worship style is modern/emergent. Our current instrumentation is acoustical guitar, electric guitar, bass and drums. We highly value hymns as they are full of depth, and we seek to incorporate them often.

The worship leader should be a team player, shepherd/leader, who values deep relationships and can maintain the close existing team, build on it, and lead.

The ideal person will be creative and innovative, continually thinking of interesting, creative and meaningful ways to lead people in worship. We value and seek to further develop a multi-sensory worship gathering. We currently use MediaShout to incorporate looping video and images behind the lyrics on the screen; candles and crosses, etc.

Because we are a small church, we also need this person to serve in another capacity besides leading worship. It depends on the passion and giftedness of person, but one example of a need we have is a leader over our home groups, which is a vital part of our church life.

Trinity Fellowship Church

Trinity Fellowship Church is located in Hickory, North Carolina, 30 minutes from the Blue Ridge Mountains and one hour away from 3 major cities (Charlotte, Asheville, Winston-Salem). Hickory is a city of 50,000+ and was recently ranked by Readers Digest as one of the top ten places in the country to raise a family.

Trinity Fellowship Church is nearly four years old with approximately 200 attending (adults and children). We are a non-denominational evangelical church that is a mixture of modern/emerging music and ministry philosophy.

Trinity Fellowship Church exists to “Transform lives by becoming an authentic community of disciples who Savor Christ, Serve People, and Share Hope.” We focus on being an authentic community (authentic genuine relationships; move people beyond superficial relationships); a passionate community (cultivating a thirst, a passion for Jesus Christ; move people out of shallow and superficial Christianity); a healing community (being a safe place to embrace our brokenness and find healing in Christ, helping people get unstuck in true freedom and growth); transformational community (genuine life change in Christ from the inside out); missional community (moving people from spectators and consumers to servants and shepherds, effectively loving people to Christ).

Trinity Fellowship Church is theologically conservative, (Examples: Pastor and elders hold to 3 to 5 points of TULIP/Reformed; Bible is the life-giving, inerrant Word of God; Jesus Christ is the only way to salvation; Christian life is indwelling Holy Spirit living in and through us), but methodologically innovative and creative. We are not a traditional church. We are seeking to incarnate Christ and fulfill His mission of building an authentic community of God-thirsty disciples in ways that are effective, not just traditional.

If we still have your attention, let me tell you a bit about myself, the pastor. I am 47, have a great wife of 18 years, three children (10, 12, 14). I was on staff with Campus Crusade for Christ for 14 years, and have been a pastor for 10. I graduated from Dallas Theological Seminary in 1993. Authors/Pastors that have impacted me and have influenced the direction of this church: John Piper, A.W. Tozer, J.I. Packer, Larry Crabb, Brennan Manning, Henri Nowen, Richard Foster, Rob Bell, Tim Keller, Robert Lewis, Ray Vanderlaan.
