Job Description:
The Assistant Principal is the chief administrative officer of the school. He/She is responsible directly to the Principal and shall operate the school according to the By-Laws, policies, philosophy, and vision formulated by the Principal and/or school board. The Assistant Principal is to oversee and direct the following aspects of school operations, including, but not limited to:
• Develop annual and long-term plans for the total developmental program of the school. Present new programs to the Principal for approval. Recommend school policies and new programs to the Principal. Oversee all new programs as needed and approved.
• Correlate plans for achieving and maintaining school affiliations and accreditation. Develop plans for increased affiliation and plan for accreditation. Ensure that fulfillment of requirements for affiliation and accreditation are progressing.
• Create a marketing plan for the school, promotion of school, and public relations.
• Become trained in The Principle Approach® so as to effectively manage the academic program of the school under the supervision of the Principal. Oversee the implementation of Principle Approach methodology and the integration of reflective reasoning and articulation skills throughout the curriculum. Maintain the standards of academic excellence in courses and instruction.
• Oversee and manage the financial operations of the school, including: management/oversight of the annual budget, tuition and fees and increases, family accounts, oversight of requisitions and allocation of supplies and equipment. Secure the needed funds for operation and development including grants, fundraisers, etc.. Author letters of acknowledgement for all gifts to the school.
• Supervise, train, encourage, and evaluate all teachers, staff, and their duties. Meet weekly with each teacher for planning and evaluation. Make reports to the Principal. Supervise classroom management of substitute teachers.
• Lead seminars, parent meetings, events, and in-service sessions.
• Attend all Staff meetings. Prepare written reports as needed on the state of the school, its achievements and challenges. Do studies and research directed by the Principal or that are required in order to perform the duties of the position.
• Establish rapport with parents. Deal with concerns immediately, by way of conferences and phone calls. Be available to parents for conferences as requested. Continue building bond between parents and school.
• Oversee communication between staff, faculty, students and parents (current and prospective), vendors, and the community.
• Attend any required school administration seminars and conferences, as directed by principal, to increase training in school administration. Select and schedule teacher training and seminar/conference attendance.
• Manage curriculum planning, lesson plan writing, and implementation, including: directing and proofing the writing of overviews, goal sheets, and lesson plans. Overseeing the selection and use of materials and books.
• Oversee acquisition of books and materials, equipment, and the organization of resources for the support of the school curriculum. Ensure that teachers complete end-of-year inventory.
• Set, maintain, and enforce the disciplines of the student body; bring correction, restoration, and healing to build up and fortify. Support teachers and deal with individual discipline concerns as needed. Be aware of potential problems.
• Maintain and enforce the ministry standards of character, academics, dress, manners, relationship, performance, and achievement for faculty and students. Establish self-government and student body government.
• Provide for the mentoring of each student, giving personal care to their interests and growth individually, seeing that the needs of each are attended. Exact the academic standards and practices necessary to the achievement of excellence for every student.
• Supervise preparation and annual revision of: Family Manual, Faculty Manual, Board Manual, Job Descriptions. Edit these publications. Recommend policies for personnel requirements and standards to the school. Oversee enforcement of policies.
• Plan and oversee all fundraising activities for the school.
• Plan (along with the Administrator) and oversee school events and special days Open Houses.
• Oversee student activities and clubs. Ensure that the extra-curricular activities promote the school’s mission and goals. Coordinate cross-school activities and competition.
• Plan participation in cross-school activities: Math competitions, Science Fair, Spelling Bees, etc.
• Ensure legal requirements are being met.

Skills and Competency
? Must have at least a bachelor’s degree (preferably in School Administration) or at least 1 year’s experience as a school Principal or Asst. Principal. If currently do not have a graduate degree in School Administration, must be willing to work towards one (required for accreditation).
? Must be called to serve in this capacity, have a heart for children, a willingness to serve and a commitment to the vision, standards, character, and order of the ministry.
? Demonstrate the personal, academic, moral, and spiritual, and leadership qualities necessary to direct Valeo Academy
? Ability to multi-task, and oversee and train staff, faculty, and students of the school
? Possess strong organizational and administrative skills
? Regular attendance at Life Changers International Church
? Strong interpersonal, communication, and public relations skills for staff, faculty, students, parents.
? Ability to organize and coordinate various projects, operations, and objectives of the school
? Strong research skills, and the ability to manage information resources, and school contacts
? Possess strong leadership skills, determination, commitment, innovation.
? Have a strong knowledge of Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook), and the ability to learn basic creative computer graphic skills.
