Job Description:
Harvest Bible Chapel of Peoria is an exciting new church plant bringing the ministry of Harvest Bible Chapel to Central Illinois. Harvest Peoria is part of Harvest Bible Fellowship (see, an association that plants churches and seeks to edify, protect, encourage and support church leaders. Harvest Bible Fellowship has 18 churches on 20 campuses in the U.S., Canada and Romania. Each Harvest Bible Chapel is independent, elder-governed and is committed to contemporary ministry without compromising the essential tenets of the Christian faith
Each church’s ministry includes a commitment to Four Pillars:
1. Preaching the authority of God’s Word without apology. (2 Timothy. 4:2)
2. Lifting high the name of Jesus Christ in worship. (John 4:24)
3. Believing firmly in the power of prayer. (Ephesians 6:18)
4. Sharing the Good News of Jesus Christ with boldness. (Ephesians 6:19-20)
Harvest Peoria held its first public worship services on September 24, 2006 with 478 in attendance. Since September, the church has continued to see more than 600 men, women and children at its two identical weekly worship services.
We are seeking a Senior Pastor to be the primary spiritual influencer and leader; one who will preach and teach God’s word at worship services and provide guidance and vision to the staff, Board of Elders and Deacons, church leaders and the congregation. He must love God and people and encourage them to be all God has called them to be. He must be committed to the Harvest Bible Fellowship principles of Doctrine, Government and Practice and Harvest Bible Chapel Peoria bylaws and have a contagious love for Jesus Christ. Title: Senior Pastor
Position Objective: to teach, lead and cast vision for life-giving and life-changing ministries at Harvest Bible Chapel of Peoria
Spiritual & Character Qualifications:
The Senior Pastor should:
• have a clear testimony of faith in Jesus Christ and a passionate, growing, personal relationship with Him;
• have a history of moral purity;
• meet the qualifications for an elder (1 Timothy 3:1-7; Titus 1:5-9);
• be a self-starter with drive, passion and initiative;
• be teachable and willing to be held accountable;
• be a team player with a positive attitude;
• possess the spiritual gifts of pastor teacher and leadership (Romans 12:7-8).
Professional Qualifications:
• prefer at least ten years full-time ministry experience in a church of at least 600 attendees;
• prefer a master’s degree from an accredited evangelical seminary;
• enthusiasm and full acceptance of the doctrine, vision, bylaws and philosophy of Harvest Bible Chapel Peoria;
• proven ability to develop leaders;
• ability to articulate a biblical philosophy of discipleship;
• prefer at least ten years experience teaching and preaching.
Position description:
The responsibilities of Senior Pastor include:
• casting the vision that every disciple should Worship, Walk and Work for Christ;
• preach at Sunday morning worship services and most holiday services(expected to provide approximately 80% of pulpit ministry);
• shared supervision of administrative staff personnel
• provide spiritual leadership to the Board of Elders and Deacons, ministry staff and the congregation by planning, mentoring, coaching and equipping;
• implementing an assimilation process that moves church visitors to fully committed church members;
• strategize with pastoral staff team to create and maintain an evangelistic focus;
• actively forge relationships with fellow pastors/leaders of neighborhood churches and community agencies;
• participation in the teaching of the Peak Performance membership class; Party With The Pastors new visitors reception;
• assisting in the pastoral care of the congregation as time allows (hospital visits, weddings, funerals, etc.);
• projecting and managing a global ministry budget for the church in conjunction with the Elders, Deacons, and ministry staff;
• actively mentor the men in the congregation and encourage growth and active participation in the ministries of the church;
• aggressively pursuing personal, spiritual and professional growth;
• be willing to carrying out other mutually agreed assignments as directed by the Board of Elders.
