Job Description:
Are you the one God has called to take the educational reins at our fast-paced, alive and growing, united church body? First Baptist Church of Maryville, Illinois, is prayerfully seeking a Minister of Education with the ability to teach, lead, and disciple our family of believers in its walk with Christ. Our ideal candidate will be eager and excited about this opportunity to set in motion the strategies God has given him which will support our body’s three-fold purpose to:
1) Exalt the Savior,
2) Equip the Saints, and
3) Evangelize the Lost.
We desire a highly relational leader, an effective and enthusiastic team player, and a strong mentor with the attention to detail required to develop and implement a system for tracking our members in their spiritual journey.
Key responsibilities of this position include:
1) Sunday School -- oversight and direction
2) Life University – our Wednesday night discipleship program offering multiple
classes (a great place for your creativity and vision to be implemented)
3) Supervision of the Student, Children, and Pre-School Staff members
4) Development of a 301 class – a class dealing with “Growing in Christ”

There is an increasing sense of enthusiasm in our members as we see God’s Spirit moving in our worship services which typically number approximately 1,000 people. During the past two years we have seen an increase of 250 people in Sunday morning worship. Our preaching is expository in style with practical life application. To meet the needs of our growing congregation, we recently completed a Family Life and Student Center on our 75-acre campus. Plans are in place for additional education space for both children and adults, as well as a 3,500-seat sanctuary. We recognize that growth is a “God-thing,” and we give Him all the glory and honor for the work He is doing here!
If you find your heart being stirred and motivated by God, and your spouse is excited as well, then we want to hear from you. We look forward to receiving your materials. In addition to your resume and references, please include a cover letter describing your vision and what God is doing in your heart.
