Interim Adult Choir Director
Job Qualifications: This person shall be a committed Christian able to work in close
cooperation as a team member. He/she shall possess good vocal and instrumental directional skill and be able to effectively and compassionately work with people. He/she will have a minimum of 5 years of experience directing an adult choir. He/she shall be well organized, able to motivate and direct people, be a self starter and be open to suggestions.
General Job Description: It is the function of the Interim Adult Choir Director to provide a quality music program which promotes Christian values and musical worship of God.
Supervisor: Senior Pastor and the Worship Ministry Team.
Time Requirement: Average of 15 hours per week.
Specific Job Duties:
1. Work closely with the Pastors, Organist, Children/Youth Choir Director and the
Worship Ministry Team to coordinate the adult music.
2. Coordinate and implement all activities of the Adult Choir.
a. Prepare and conduct a weekly adult choir rehearsal on Wednesday evening. b. Conduct all adult choir participation at all Sunday worship services.
c. Organize and direct special music events.
1. Christmas music programs (Advent)
2. Christmas Eve services
3. Easter Music Program (Lent)
4. Maundy Thursday
5. Spring concert
6. Funerals where adult choir is requested
d. Select appropriate music for the Anthem in coordination with other music staff
and pastors.
e. Submit all the music information for the bulletin to the church office by noon
on Wednesday.
f. Maintain an active program of recruitment for new musical talent, encouraging
participation of singers from the congregation in coordination with the

a. Maintain attendance records of the adult choir members at practice and at

c. Maintain music library and serve as a music resource person.
d. Provide music folders and a choir robe to each adult choir member.
e. Work with the Worship Ministry Team to coordinate any needed publicity for any special events.
4. Coordinate and implement all activities of the Adult Bell choir.
a. Prepare and conduct a weekly/monthly adult bell rehearsal on Wednesday or
. b. Conduct the Bell choir at scheduled Sunday worship services.
5. Substitutes:
a. Arrange for a substitute Adult Choir Director if needed.
b. Notify Church Administrator of dates of absence and name and
expectations of substitute.
6. Attend meetings
a. Weekly staff meeting
b. Monthly Worship Ministry Team meeting
7. Finances
a. Prepare the annual adult music budget along with the Worship Ministry Team
b. Be fiscally responsible to the Adult choir budget.
8. Be punctual and prepared for all required rehearsals and services.
