Job Description:
We are seeking a person who has a passion for leading today's style of worship. There should be 5-10 years experience in developing creative and engaging experiences that lead people into closer relationship with Christ and skill in working alongside a visionary team of ordained and lay leaders in crafting a worship culture that honors God, values people and transforms lives.
This is a salaried, professional position reporting to the Senior Pastor and coordinating closely with other church staff, laity, volunteers and paid and unpaid musicians. In collaboration with the Pastors, you'll work with selected themes and organize the weekly Sunday, 8:30 AM traditional, 9:40 a.m. contemporary worship service and 11:00 a.m. service for our congregation. You may also have the opportunity to expand your ministry and perform other functions and serve in other capacities as directed by the pastors or that you suggest yourself. This is truly a unique opportunity for the right candidate.
Principal Responsibilities:
You'll work collaboratively with Pastors, church staff, and paid and unpaid musicians to select themes and organize a weekly worship services including (but not limited to) selection, arrangement, and direction of all musical offerings for the services.
You'll lead the music during most of the worship services - using your skills as a vocalist and musician - to help bring others closer to Christ.
You'll recruit and lead other team members including paid and volunteer musicians, vocalists, audio and video staff and others. And, working with the Pastor, you'll identify substitute staff when needed.
Necessary gifts and graces:
You should have experience leading a contemporary service including music and prayer for an intergenerational, family-oriented congregation.
You should be comfortable and have a working knowledge of contemporary worship music as well as traditional worship as well as the style and purpose of a worship service.
You should be adept at scheduling musicians for weekly services and for practices. This position requires substantial personnel management and leadership skills for both paid staff and volunteers.
You should be, or be willing to become, well-versed in new styles of communications and new technologies used in today‘s culture and in contemporary ministry.
You'll need an understanding of audio and video equipment for this position. The Worship Leader works on a routine basis with Faith UMC’s technical support personnel to resolve issues and provide a high quality worship service.
You must have a true passion for winning over the hearts and minds of both the churched and unchurched for Christ and you must demonstrate a true commitment to building the Body of Christ here on Earth.
The salary for this position will be commensurate with experience. We seek a person that has 5-10 years experience as a Music Minister/Worship Leader, is degreed in a music-related discipline and will consent to reference and background checks.
