Job Description: Youth Pastor
To envision, coordinate, and implement effective life-changing experiences that lead youth to accomplish the mission of the body in seeking the welfare of the city/community.

1. Clear calling/goal-oriented: as evidenced by one’s testimony and discernment of a clear career plan and vision.
2. Passion: evidenced by an urgency displayed through (a) outreach, (b) relationship building, and (c) concrete actions to learn/study/discover innovative methods to reach this generation.
3. Self-starting: as evidenced by initiation and follow-through to complete successful programs and events.
4. Process-driven: as evidenced by implementation of transparent, systematic processes that meet well-defined event deadlines and strategic objectives.
5. Communication skills:
a. as evidenced by effective systems that inform (a) youth, (b) parents, (c) congregation, (d) staff, and (e) community. [Written communication skills; digitally transmitted or otherwise]
b. as evidenced by Biblical teaching & discipleship that leads to (1) engaged youth, and (2) attraction of youth of those families considering joining the body. [Oral communication skills]
6. Interpersonal skills: as evidenced by deep relationships with youth and families across a variety of personal backgrounds.
7. Independent decision-making: evidenced by reports of supervisors (and/or others) of ability to complete tasks and responsibilities independently and in timely manner.
8. Work ethic: as evidenced by daily work schedule that prioritizes responsibilities through effective time management.
9. Team-builder: as evidenced by recruitment and supervision of volunteer workers and teachers to accomplish tasks and objectives.
10. Education: College graduate required; Master’s preferred.
11. Experience: proven track record in youth ministry with evidence of spiritual and numeric growth.

1. Relationships: Engage and connect in the lives of youth and their friends through frequent informal (Mon-Sat) and formal (Sunday/Wednesday meetings) means.
2. Programs: Develop and execute programs and events that attract youth members and non-members.
a. Organize, recruit, lead, and oversee teaching and small group discipleship, including development and/or selection of sound curriculum consistent with the mission and design of the church.
b. Plan mission, service, and outreach activities, including specific, reliable, and effective deadlines.
3. Communication: Implement effective, reliable written communication systems for key stakeholders (via web, e-letters, email lists, posters, flyers, cards, etc.).
4. Worship: Plan, execute, and encourage corporate worship among youth and youth in the body. As available/possible, coordinate youth band and worship with worship pastor.
5. Systems Planning: Provide systems, structure, planning, stability, and dependability for all youth-related activities and ministries.
6. Vision: Plan visionary strategy in-sync with leadership and congregation that offers life-changing experiences [particularly for upcoming large pre-teen group] resulting in internalized beliefs evidenced by personal devotion.

Staff Structure and Relationships
1. Office hours: Regular office hours should be kept. Guidelines: Staff members are expected to complete 8-hour work days in the office Monday through Thursday, in addition to ministry time that may be outside of the office.
a. All staff members have Friday off and the office is closed.
b. Staff members rotate being on emergency call on Fridays.
2. Staff Meetings: Attend all staff meetings prepared with proactive report on ministry activities.
3. Accountability: Directly to the executive pastor and then to the elders (including senior pastor).
4. Reporting: Provide monthly report to the elders for the first six months, then quarterly thereafter.
5. Attitude: Cooperate fully with other staff as needed for the fulfillment of church goals.
